Illinois Governor JB Pritzker is fat. I realize writing that is a lot like writing the sun rises in the east or water makes you wet, but sometime you simply have to state the obvious to make a point. As the billionaire edition of a grown-up version of the Big Boy statue eyeballs a run for president like he eyeballs whatever his favorite high-calorie snack is, it is important to remember that he is the Governor of a state the contains Chicago, and that Chicago has seen the murder of 6,518 people from 2015-2024. All the Democrats in that state could not muster a single damn about any of them.
Why pick on Pritzker when the same can be said for pretty much every Democrat in the country and every generationally controlled Democrat city, especially when Democrats also control the state government? Because he is actively trying to draw attention to himself over it.
JB is a billionaire, he was born into the family that owns Hyatt Hotels…then he ate them. Just kidding, probably. But he is fat.
With his billions of un-earned money, this bipedal planet did what so many rich kids whose families don’t really like him do – looking at you, Levi’s heir Dan Goldman – he bought political power in the Democrat Party. It’s the only thing cheaper than the women Bill Clinton is attracted to, honestly.
After President Donald Trump cut the murder rate in Washington, DC, to zero for a week, JaBba (be honest, that’s what you think when you hear it) took to his Twitter account not to celebrate the accomplishment, but to whine about it. His argument? The default position of every Democrat incapable of thinking for themselves: “Muh democracy!”
Using what must either have been voice dictation, a staffer one-tenth his size, or the largest keyboard inherited wealth can buy, Pritzker wrote, “Donald Trump's threat to bring the National Guard to Chicago isn't about safety – it's a test of the limits of his power and a trial run for a police state. Illinois has long worked with federal law enforcement to tackle crime, but we won't let a dictator impose his will.”
He's presided over Murder Mecca for his entire purchased Governorship and he’s fine with it. That murder is down from a modern high of 805 in 2021 to the still above average 581 in 2024 is enough, it seems.
You really have to ask Democrats how many murder they wouldn’t be cool with, because they seem to be cool with quite a lot of them.
When talking about illegal aliens, Democrats will inevitably bring up the lie that “Migrants commit fewer crimes than Americans do.” Of course, they never mention the fact that Democrat-controlled states forbid the collection of citizenship and immigration status data because they do not want that information to be known (which should tell you everything you need to know about the lie).
Democrats never get upset over illegal alien murder, they barely talk about it beyond the lie. But the lie begs the question, “How many Americans murdered by illegal aliens will it take to make you care?” The answer is the same as it is to the question, “How many murdered black people will it take to make you care?”
That answer, just in case you were wondering, is there is no number. Democrats do not care about either or else they’d do something about it. They block action on it. They sue to prevent action on it. And they complain about Republicans taking action on it.
The op-ed JB linked to starts off, “In just a few months, President Trump has managed to put at risk years of hard work underway in cities across America to bring down crime, restore trust in the police and expand proven approaches to public safety that can save lives and money.”
The piece, written by Obama’s former Secretary of Education, is about how a non-profit he co- founded hires “trusted and respected community members, many with criminal backgrounds, to recruit these individuals into our program. We offer participants stipends, a life coach, trauma treatment, education and job training. Their coaches and therapists teach them strategies to regulate their emotions and handle conflict without escalating. We help them live safely and make better choices.”
In other words, throw money at the problem and hope for the best. Honestly, if you need someone to tell you that you shouldn’t murder someone else, I’m not sure having the phone number of a life coach is going to be enough to stop you.
But the bigger point – that they’re pretending this stuff works to bring down murders – is just as insane of an idea.
Crime being down from its all-time high is better than the alternative, but it’s not something to be proud of. There was nowhere to go but down, which is not an accomplishment.
The bigger point, however, is the lengths to which Democrat will go to ignore or distract from the murders of black people, as the vast majority of those killed in Chicago are black, and as a percentage of the population (about 13 percent), black people make up a little more than half the victims. You have to really not care to look past all that and pretend everything is good.
