Border-line Obsessives – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • One day - ONE DAY - these journos will wait for the full story, before overreacting.

We have the latest episode of the media rushing to make a martyr out of an illegal detainee who was proven to have every reason to be deported. The news broke of a D.C. arrest on the streets, with ICE agents arresting a man as he squealed for help, claiming to be a worker and a father. Aimee Cho, from NBC Channel 4 in D.C., recorded the arrest and posted it right away on social media.

Other reporters and journalists jumped on the video, including Miami Herald investigative reporter Julie Brown, who expressed emotional reactions while declaring DHS will never disclose his details. (Just ignore DHS consistently releasing arrest details.) Jessica Tarlov of Fox News also got in on the sympathy and ICE condemnation.

Then the details emerged. This was a man charged with sexual battery of a minor. He also has a Final Removal order against him, as he entered this country illegally on THREE occasions.

And, as always is the case, the correction receives scant attention when compared to the initial errant hype.

Pre-Written Field Reports – CNN

  • Dana is having a difficult year this month.

It continues to be a marvel to sit back and watch journalists who refuse to even put in a modicum of effort in doing their job. For the latest, we have Dana Bash, who has been on a roll of late with displays of incompetence. This time, she was mewling about the “takeover” of Washington, D.C., with Rep. Tim Burchett, and she stepped on a rake, promptly.

She tried to challenge him by asking whether he would be fine with troops being sent into cities in his home state of Tennessee, such as Memphis. He coolly told her he would, but pointed out to her that she was lapsing in the tired argument that has embarrassed many other journos – that being the president has jurisdiction over D.C. as a federal District, but not cities inside self-run states.

Presentation Paradox – WASHINGTON POST

  • Did you folks even think this one through before rushing it to PUBLISH?!

In a disturbing dose of journalism exposing a politician to possible threats, the WaPo geniuses felt it was a good idea to detail some of the security measures involving Pete Hegseth. The intent of the outlet was to suggest that his calls for protection for his family were excessive and causing a strain on the Army’s CID, which is in charge of providing security to Hegseth and his family.

WaPo suggested that requiring his extended family to be covered by CID agents in other states was over the line for a Secretary of Defense. But then they also gave this nugget in the body of their hit piece:

  • Shortly after Hegseth was nominated to become defense secretary, a bomb threat was made against his home in Tennessee, two people told The Post. The incident prompted an increase in security, these people said.

Annnnnd…they wonder why there is a call for added security. Okay, then.

Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – PUBLIC BROADCASTING SERVICE

  • Yes, little mystery why this network is being defunded.

A quick reminder, David Brooks is supposedly the conservative voice over at PBS. Also, another reminder, the heads of PBS and NPR were claiming their news divisions play things straight down the middle.

Okay, with that established, what did Brooks have to say? Well, basically, President Trump is poised to start killing Americans.

  • Let's do a little ethical experiment here. You're in World War I. The Germans use mustard gas on civilians, and it helps them. Do you then decide, okay, we're going to use mustard gas on civilians?

My, this sounds severe! Just what is it that Trump is doing that is on par with this war crime - except he is committing it on a domestic level?!

Redistricting.

Yes, seriously – David Brooks tries to say compelling the Texas redistricting effort is akin to gassing Americans.

  • What Trump ordered Abbott to do in Texas is mustard gas on our democracy."

Blue-Anon – CNN

  • “The Rise Of The Humvees” sounds like a sequel in the “Transformers” franchise.

As the D.C. “military takeover” continues, so too does the media pearl-clutching over the effort to control crime. The latest cause for fainting couch theatrics is rather sad to behold – there were scary-looking military vehicles in the capital!

Wolf Blitzer delivered a chilling post about the fact that he came across a Humvee on his way to work – not a post you would see from him a few years ago, after Nancy Pelosi called in troops in the very same district.

Race to the Bottom – NBC NEWS

  • We are trying to find the news aspect in this entry…

At NBC News, we get a lengthy piece that profiles a few black folks who are engaging in various activities. One is a woman who golfs. Another is a man who has taken up sky diving, and another is a mother and her teenage son who have gotten into scuba diving.

There is absolutely nothing at all remarkable about any of these profiles, but we have to suppose that the skin color of the participants is…we are not sure – significant???

This feature amounts to nothing more than, “Here are some black folks who have hobbies.”
