Matching Media Memorandum – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • Hey, everyone is raging about this, no need to look into whether it is a sane idea!

So the uproar over Sydney Sweeney becoming a spokeswoman continues, as if at no other time in our nation’s history has a company employed a comely female to sell products. Many leftists are losing their ever-loving minds on social media, accusing Sweeney and American Eagle Outfitters of pushing eugenics, Nazism, racism, and sexism. It has all been remarkably stupid.

Which means, of course, the press felt the need to get in on the act.

The Washington Post declared how the ad went wrong for the company, as it realized hundreds of millions in new market capitalization in a matter of days.

USA Today saw fit to pile on with the coverage, listing off the accusations of the outrage, and “Good Morning America” also piggybacked on the hysteria. NBC News also brought up the eugenics charge.

MSNBC went the furthest, declaring the ads “an unbridled cultural shift towards whiteness.” That this was written by a distinctly white female was noticed by some.

DNC PR Firm – WASHINGTON POST

  • Hopefully, the neutral news outlet will solve this problem…for the Dems.

The Democratic Party has numerous issues to contend with, and one of those is the gulf of support with men. Recall the Harris campaign tried to manipulate male voters into the K-Hive by coming up with asinine promotions like “White Dudes For Harris.”

Now, WaPo is digging up the metrics from a study that shows most male voters regard the Democrats as lacking in anyone they would consider a masculine role model. The lone exception was Barack Obama, former President Mom-Jeans himself.

As humorous as all that is, the other component is in trying to imagine the Washington Post doing a similarly serious dive into how the GOP could recover a voting sector.

News Avoidance Syndrome – Minnesota Star-Tribune

  • It seems you left off a few niggling details there…

So we have moved from “Maryland father” to “Wisconsin driver?"

In the latest example of the press adjusting the impression of ICE activity, the Minnesota outlet looked at a case of a woman being deported, and seemingly tried to drum up sympathy, after she killed two in a drunk driving incident. That alone defies common sense, but there was clearly an effort to obfuscate, describing her merely as a “driver.” Omitted was that she is an illegal from Honduras, had a revoked license (how she obtained one in the first place is a question), and previously was charged with a DWI.

We don't know, but those seem kind of like pertinent details.

Anti-Social Media – THE BULWARK

  • How dare those people notice the content that was put out there.

The unhinged gang at The Bulwark is showing its desperation. In an effort to demonize the religious right over the immigration issue, the notable antagonistic-toward-the-devout journalists played the tired card of invoking the Bible they despise to demean the Christian whom they despise. They found a case of immigration agents arresting an individual who was a day laborer with the Lord's name, and used him to make a point.

It then became amusing when Sam Stein became intemperate for being called out on this display, and looked pathetic when complaining about it.

Reporting on the Mirror – CBS NEWS

  • This really is not going to help, guys.

As CBS continues to roil internally in the wake of the settlement with Donald Trump, the network does not seem intent on learning a lesson. Recently, we covered how the entire staff of anchors at “60 Minutes” declared in a petulant snit that they might walk if the network did not hire their choice of replacement for the departed Executive Producer Bill Owens, who quit with the settlement fallout.

Well, CBS hired its choice of replacement. Tanya Simon was named as the Owens replacement, indicating there may be little in the form of actual change on the news program.

Reporting on the Mirror – E!

  • Less a loss for journalism than a harbinger of change for the new entity.

It was not exactly jarring news to hear of another show’s demise, lost amid the outrage over Stephen Colbert’s non-cancellation. But it is an indicator of what lies ahead for others, such as MSNBC.

On the cable network E!, it was announced that they would cease broadcasting the signature info-tainment program, “E! News," after a 32-year run, remaining only as a digital portal on the channel’s website. The reason why the loss of the gossipy Hollywood show might be significant is that E! is part of the new spun-off entity, Versant – the collection of cable channels that NBC-Universal cut loose from its portfolio, which includes MSNBC.

Considering that a relatively inexpensive production like this was axed could be a sign of the new financial structure the channels in Versant’s stable might have to contend with going forward.
