Musk v. Trump — Art of Impossible v. Possible

There is no shortage of consternation about Elon Musk launching the new America Party. What will it mean for President Trump and his agenda? Republicans? Democrats? Americans at large? How will the American political landscape change?

If the America Party does go forward, it may turn out to be one of the most consequential events of the 21st Century.

I recently heard a brilliant Tesla investor by the name of Larry Goldberg postulate a brief, yet on-the-money description of the difference between President Donald Trump and Citizen Elon Musk. In a nutshell, Larry suggested it is between the possible and the impossible.

President Trump is practicing the "Art of the Possible". He has done this his entire life, thus his Big Beautiful Bill. Trump navigates based on the realities of the situation at hand. He wants deals and knows how and when to compromise. Better to get 70% of what you want as opposed to 0%, right?

Citizen Elon Musk, on the other hand, is practicing the "Art of the Impossible".  Elon has done this his entire life and has repeatedly succeeded at doing so.  Look at his companies — SpaceX, Tesla (including FSD and Optimus), Neuralink, The Boring Company, X (formerly Twitter), Starlink, xAI, PayPal, rockets re-landing themselves, et al.  Every company he has created was viewed as impossible in the beginning. And yet he has made the impossible possible...again...again...and again.

Musk is now focused on America's $37 Trillion National Debt, because he sees it as the one true existential threat facing America. It is America's impossible problem. Musk is 100% certain this debt will be America's undoing, and he is focused on eliminating or drastically curtailing it. He is not going to compromise this goal away because Trump and the Big Beautiful Bill can't get the votes to make it a priority.

Musk has shifted gears to launch the America Party to keep the American Reformation moving forward.

Over-indebtedness has repeatedly ruined individuals, businesses, and nations throughout history. It can and will eventually ruin America if we don't change course. America's National Debt is now at 97% of GDP, an all-time high (with the exception of World War Two). And for the first time in U.S. history, debt servicing on America's National Debt is now greater than the entire annual U.S. Defense Budget. America is piling up debt, and the rate is rapidly increasing.

The Democratic Party is on life support — short inspirational leaders, struggling financially, and without consequential issues (unless you consider abortion, gender-reassignment surgery, and men competing against women in sports the priorities of our federal government). If things don't change within the Democratic Party soon, the America Party has an opportunity to eclipse it as America's second main political party.

As moderate Democrats (John Fetterman, Harold Ford, Josh Shapiro, Joe Manchin, et al.) begin to see a new home in a centrist, moderate, non-Trump party with seemingly endless resources and a massive global megaphone, the urge to realign may become irresistible. Musk also turns off most, but this will likely pass as it becomes clearer that the America Party is the answer to their problems.

AOC, Sanders, Crockett, Mamdani, Warren, and crew could soon be the last of the Mohicans in a rapidly shrinking radicalized Democratic Party that represents little but the failed teachings of Marx and Engels.

Policy-wise, Musk remains close to Trump. His America Party would likely work well as a coalition partner with the Republicans on policy, such as reducing America's National Debt and ending government fraud. The Democratic Party will be the odd man out, while the other two parties make policy.

Trump may yet convince Musk to hold off on the America Party and give him six more months to prove he will take on America's National Debt. But remember, Musk is an absolutist...he doesn't compromise on his principles...he never gives up...and he believes to the core of his soul that he can accomplish the impossible.

If you doubt the impossible is possible for Citizen Musk, visit SpaceX and watch a few of his 471 rockets that have successfully re-landed their first-stage boosters. Before 2016, the notion of re-landing a rocket was considered impossible.

This is who is launching the America Party, and underestimate him at your own peril.

Hold on tight, folks, things are going to get interesting.
