Just when you think it can’t possibly get any more woke, self-destructive, or anti-United States of America, radical, self-described Democratic-Socialist Zohran Mamdani crushes Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary last week. Sadly, but quite predictably, the far-left and their propagandists in the media are now all in for Mamdani and the eradication of New York City as we know it.
As President Donald J. Trump posted on TRUTH SOCIAL when first hearing of Mamdani’s victory:
“It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line. Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor. We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous. He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart, he’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him. Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country.”
But, history not yet recorded, can still be rendered hypothetical. Mamdani can still be defeated come November. All it will take is some “Old School Politicking.”
Back in the day, three of my old bosses – Lee Atwater, Haley Barbour, and Bob Dole – all told me the same thing. Winning elections still comes down to the most basic of addition and subtraction. At the moment, many literally horrified at the prospect of Mamdani taking over New York City believe the only viable alternative is current – and deeply tarnished – Mayor Eric Adams. In this case, the anti-Mamdani constituency is hoping and praying the lesser of two evils is better. As opposed to just a different form of “evil,” incompetence, and potential corruption.

So for the purpose of this exercise, let’s say that it is Adams or nothing when it comes to defeating the truly reprehensible, refuses to condemn “Globalize the Intifada,”; 33-year-old Muslim, Ugandan-born trust-fund New York State Assemblyman nepo baby; defund the police; ban all legal guns; communism-theory-embracing; billionaires have no right to exist; shut down ICE; rights of the criminals before the rights of the victims; democracy, capitalism, and liberty hating candidate. But…how best to do it?
Tip the basic math strongly in the favor of Adams. Make a deal which brings Republican Mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa into the fold.
Those who want to save New York City and believe Adams is the only candidate left who can truly pull off the feat need to understand how truly popular Sliwa is with hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers. He is a populist and a cult of personality Iconic figure to many who have witnessed and recorded his “Guardian Angel” exploits over the last several decades. Including surviving a Mob assassination attempt.
Does Sliwa have a chance to get elected Mayor of New York City in November? I wish he did as I believe he would pull from the Rudy Giuliani handbook and save the city from the toxic and self-destructive policies of the Democrats but multiple people I have spoken with in New York City don’t believe Sliwa can get there. As such, they are putting their respective power centers behind Adams.
Let’s assume they are correct. If Sliwa has any kind of real campaign, they will already have some honest internal polling to review. It may tell them the same story. If so, what is the next best option for him? I would suggest making him the Police Commissioner of New York City. Many believe he would excel at the job given his decades of crime fighting at the local level. More than that, it would show him the respect his supporters would demand to come to the polls for Adams instead.
But wait. New York City already has a police commissioner. So, what. The current commissioner – Jessica Tisch – is an Adams appointee. Prior to being appointed police commissioner, Adam’s had appointed her to head up sanitation in the city. Those same New Yorkers I spoke with about Sliwa say Tisch has massively failed the city in both positions.
As of now, Sliwa insists he is in the race to the end. That said, it has been reported that some of his major donors are seeking to create an off ramp for him. That “off ramp” should be making him New York City Police Commissioner.
The late, great game show host Monty Hall would scream out: “Let’s Make A Deal.” Make the basic math work for you. Sliwa does have hundreds of thousands of supporters in the city. They rightfully believe in him. If Sliwa is shown the proper respect, many will come to the polls to vote for Adams.
If no deal is made, Sliwa might as well stay in the race. Speaking of basic math, there is still a mathematical chance that he could pull off the improbable victory. If Adams, Cuomo, and Mamdani are all in the race, enough Democrats may vote for Adams and Cuomo in an effort to stop Mamdani that Sliwa slides in as the victor.
No matter what, there is one certainty to predict where no math is needed. If Mamdani wins, New York City and The United States of America…Lose.
