Both Kinds of Standards – THE DISNEY COMPANY

  • Turns out that all along the lie was their support of the gay community.

It was a couple of years ago when Disney completely torpedoed itself by choosing to inject the company into Florida politics. Pressured by internal activists and some in the entertainment media, the company was compelled to battle in PR efforts against Florida’s Parental Rights in Education legislation. Falling for the erroneous claim it was a “Don’t Say Gay” bill, and eventually a law, the company soon found it was on the wrong end of a policy to keep offensive material out of the hands of the youngest of students.

You know, like movies that are rated for mature audiences – the same kind of standards seen on Disney’s streaming platform.

Well, look at who the intolerant ones are today. The company that claimed to fully support the rights of the gay community is setting up shop in Abu Dhabi, a nation where homosexuality is punishable by death.

More like, “Don’t Say Hypocrites.”

News Avoidance Syndrome – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • Still waiting on the reports of him coaching Little League, by the way…

As we noted last week, the hyperactive coverage of Kilmar Abrego Garcia being a “Maryland father” was dying off, and now we get served even more evidence as to why. Small credit to ABC News for daring to report what most others in the press will not: Proof he was engaged in human trafficking.

The man who owned the vehicle on that traffic stop, the one where Garcia was found with more than half a dozen occupants who were illegals, spilled more details. He has now told authorities that he was in the business of trafficking and that Garcia was, in fact, transporting them from Texas to Baltimore on his behalf. Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen has yet to release a statement.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – POLITICO

  • That you expect us to believe this is the truly offensive part.

The press that normally despises and denigrates religion is for some reason deeply invested in the Vatican currently going through the process of selecting a new Pope. When it becomes amusing is when those journalists who normally resent religious practice and tenets try to come off as experts on matters with which they normally insult others for fostering faith.

At Politico, they have actually tried to tell us that some of the clerics inside the Vatican are somewhat unclear on the duties they are charged with undertaking. Do they consult with Vatican leadership or pore over ancient texts that have outlined their duties and responsibilities? Nope!

According to the outlet, these learned church leaders are turning to their streaming subscription service. The claim is these men are learning what they need to do by watching the recent Hollywood release, “Conclave.”

Yep, uh huh – surrrrrrre they are.

Glossary Over Things – CBS NEWS

  • As we said, these are people who normally resent this church stuff.

Another way that the Politico idiocy gets unraveled is from this report on CBS News. They informed viewers that the clerics currently ensconced and deciding on the outcome over who will lead the worldwide church are not just cut off from the public during the conclave but they also forgo any electronic devices during this period. (That’ll make it tough to pull up a movie on their Amazon Prime account, Politico!)

That bit of insight is well and good, but we do not think we needed to hear the dedicated practice described in quite such graphic terms, CBS!

Reporting on the Mirror – WASHINGTON POST

  • Imagine how bad the reporting was from those outlets that did not win!

In another head-scratching decision on supposed journalism excellence seen from the Pulitzer Prize committee, there was this selection for the Distinguished Breaking News award. The Washington Post was awarded for its coverage on the day that then-candidate Donald Trump was nearly assassinated, and at first blush, you would think this makes sense. That is until we get reminded of the indolent way WaPo began its coverage that nearly fateful day.

If this is considered the high-water mark of breaking news coverage, it speaks volumes about the state of journalism.
