Matching Media Memorandum – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • Wellll…you cannot describe it as Trump picking on “That poor Harvard University,” given the size of its endowment.

The news spread rapidly when Harvard University came out with its announcement that it was not going to bend to Donald Trump’s demand that the school clean up its antisemitism issues and remove DEI from its administration.

Then the president finalized the command that the university would no longer receive billions of dollars from the federal government, and the squealing from the school and the press began. The media have been unanimously in support of Harvard.

  • ABC NEWS – Students are celebratory

  • NBC NEWS – We will be in worse shape as a nation because of these freezes.

  • ABC WORLD NEWS TONIGHT – The university president is making it clear that no government should dictate to a private university what it should teach and do.

  • CNN – Audie Cornish: “Oversight into actual curriculum – which is kind of ironic as they want to dismantle the Ed. Department.”

  • GOOD MORNING AMERICA – “An escalation in the Trump administration’s campaign against elite colleges.”

Gilded Reframe – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • Seems like a development that a neutral news industry would cover, which explains why it is barely being covered.

As we showed yesterday, there is an attempt in the press to frame the attack on Gov. Josh Shapiro in his home by a firebomber to be an attack from the right. If the entire story of this attacker is looked at, he has slammed members of both parties, as well as declaring himself a socialist, as well as being a heavily medicated man with emotional issues.

Now it has been learned via the arrest reports that the attacker was motivated by his support for Palestinians and blames Shapiro for his influence on Israel’s retaliatory strikes. This story will now dissipate faster than a vape cloud behind a restaurant at break time.

News Avoidance Syndrome – CNN

  • This seems to run counter to Sunday’s BIG program.

One of the reporters who has dared to touch on this development was Jake Tapper, but that carries some curiosity. For one, he linked to the local outlet that had broken the story. While this is a good practice on social media, it seems telling that he did not post a link or video clip of this being reported on his network.

But we could not help but point out the deeply inconvenient timing this makes for the attempt to celebrate and hype the special from Sunday evening by Donie O’Sullivan on extremism in this country. This was the show where he promoted it by saying there was practically no extreme political violence on the left. With this serving as yet another example of what he was denying, we asked Jake if he could inform O’Sullivan of this development.

Reporting on the Mirror – ASSOCIATED PRESS

  • But…but…the judge said…

The AP was very giddy when a court ruled that the White House had to reinstall the news syndicate in the press pool. In response, the White House complied – and then contrived. The announcement was that now the decision has been made that they will be removing all of the news syndicates from the pool and instead will be part of the rotation of outlets selected at random.

Legalized Press-titution – CBS NEWS

  • I believe we have had enough of the self-hero-worship from space.

Now that the ladies from Blue Origin have heroically made it back from their space commute, there has been plenty of criticism and mockery over their “accomplishment.” Gayle King has been lashing out at any complaints as rooted in sexism. What is really offensive to women is pretending that the over 150 females who have actually travelled into space and performed vital tasks were not inspiring, but a collection of celebrities who paid for a ride and never even entered into orbit have somehow become the beacons of space travel for their gender.

What makes this all the more insufferable is how much King’s network has pimped and promoted this brief trip for days and multiple lengthy segments; and brief it was. In the entirety – from the moment of liftoff to the capsule's return to the West Texas desert – this trip was less than 11 minutes in total. Meanwhile, CBS has devoted over 21 times more airtime to covering this venture.

Presentation Paradox – CNN

  • Dammit, Harry, you have killed yet another narrative…

We continue to wonder how much longer Harry Enten can retain his job at CNN, as he has once again delivered hard evidence that a news narrative pushed on his own network is not rooted in anything substantial. The latest push has been that many of those who crossed over for Donald Trump in the election today are regretting their vote. Wellllll…

Enten shows the latest polling that shows barely 2% of voters actually feel this way. The press seems to be getting off of their own product.
