There are few things more annoying than squishy, desperate for attention former so-called Republicans who insist they are the gatekeepers of what is and is not conservative. You know the types, the people who threw a big hissy fit about how “they didn’t leave the party, the party left them.” The most noise they ever made in their political lives was when they were “quitting the party,” which makes you wonder what they ever did for the cause of conservatism. The answer is nothing.
These people are the ex-boyfriends who got dumped, then spent the rest of their lives insisting they actually did the dumping, never really liked the girl, and have non-stop been calling every single guy she ever dated after him a loser. “I’m not obsessed, you’re obsessed!”
These people have always been around – the David Brocks and Arianna Huffingtons of the world who insist they just couldn’t be among the “hatemongers” anymore…after the checks dried up.
That’s one thing people on the right who were never taken seriously, were never that smart or interesting, and never really accomplished anything other than a few TV hits when anyone worth listening to was busy have going for them is they can always pull the ripcord and become leftists. Once they do that, the MSNBC and CNN hits come rolling in, maybe even a book deal. It won’t sell because you’re a human prop trying to sell to people who are using you as one something they have no interest in. But a book advance is a book advance.
These are the people who find out what happens with leftists when you go from a “useful idiot” to just an idiot. They’re left at the altar, broke and confused as their suitor runs off with the next shinny object to lather, rinse and repeat.

I don’t want to name names, but I do want to give them a name. They are the political equivalent of Karens, so I christen them “Matt.” Has a fitting ring to it, doesn’t it?
Matts are the type of people who are so desperate to matter more than they are to make a difference that you smell it.
Matts retweet themselves more than anyone else does, Matts speaking glowingly of people named David – French or Frum, take your pick, it doesn’t matter.
All the while, Matts insist that they, and they alone, are the keeps of the flame of Ronald Reagan.
Matts, of course, missed every lesson from Reagan and have no idea what conservatism is. Read the GOP platform under Reagan and see what it is Republicans are doing now. There’s not a lot of daylight between the two, with it only happening where the unaddressed problems over the last 40 years have gotten worse and the solutions more urgent.
You almost have to try to be ignorant enough to believe things like Republicans are cruel on the issue of “trans” kids while back-slapping people literally removing sexual organs and chemically castrating children. Or that illegal alien gang members should not be deported and deserve more “due process” than they ever even considered granting their rape and murder victims.
Matts do it with ease.
I didn’t know people could morally preach immorality before these people were broken by cable news bookers finding them vapid and the rise of Donald Trump.
Trump really broke Matts in ways I don’t think we’re going to realize for decades.
Disgraced former Congressman and current CNN prop Adam Kinzinger, the closest they can come to an “alpha-Matt,” tweeted Tuesday, “I’m going to say something that shouldn’t be controversial but will be. If you are a Christian, you can support border control and immigration being legal vs illegal. You CANNOT celebrate deportations and get off on the cruelty, and be a real Christ follower. Period.”
I didn’t realize we had a new Pope.
Desperately wanting to matter…and then not must do something to the brain. Adam, like all Matts, thinks he’s being both profound and consistent. He’s neither, he’s only desperate.
It’s a true sign of a mental defect when you’re quick to anger over people not agreeing with you. It’s a sign of arrogance when that anger is triggered by your frustration over people not following you; not “getting how smart you are.”
It’s mental penis envy. Matts are weathervanes for conventional wisdom and get angry when they don’t get the attention they think they deserve.
Laugh at them, that’s all they deserve. And be on the lookout for the next generation of Matts, as ignorant and arrogant tools who insist they are the only “true conservative” around are the only thing for which there appears to be an endless supply of in politics.
