Reporting on the Mirror – AXIOS

  • We want to make an apples and oranges comment here…

Jim VandeHei, co-founder of Axios, is a conflicted man. He has been in a perturbed state pretty much since election time. Recall, he became deeply bothered when Elon Musk noted that conventional news outlets were fading, and that digital outlets and online news producers were part of his “We are the media now” declaration.

Now, amusingly enough, just months later, VandeHei appears on an interview with one of the new media sources, Bari Weiss and her podcast on her The Free Press outlet.

As he lists a number of very real problems seen in the press the past few years, he then tries to pass this off as a trifling problem made by “a few bad apples.” Sorry, Jim, but as you describe The Twitter Files, Covid coverage, and covering up Joe Biden’s mental state, you are describing the work of bad orchards – and Axios is one of the trees.

BlueAnon – MSNBC

  • We love when the “experts” believe this country cannot achieve the basics.

For some reason at MSNBC, they are trying to resuscitate Chris Matthews’ career. This, despite his showing it is a questionable decision. Recently, recall, he came on to declare no one in the press fact-checks Trump and Elon anymore. Oh…Chris…

For his latest, he was discussing the tariffs hysteria and our contretemps with Canada, becoming very upset that we may not be able to get our 2x4 supply in this country.

That he is being roundly ridiculed across social media over this genius hot take gives us hope for this country – more hope than Chris and his network possess.

News Avoidance Syndrome – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • Any other details about this coach you may want to include…or, nah…?

In Southern California, the community was rocked by the news that a youth soccer coach had abused a number of young boys and murdered one of his victims. As this has become a growing story, picked up by many news outlets, there is a disturbing thread running through the reports. Make that, a pertinent thread that is missing from many reports – the coach was an illegal immigrant, and he had a number of past incidents that should have precluded him from being a coach with children.

Reporting on the Mirror – THE NEW YORK TIMES

  • Won’t somebody think of how the children will regard the media?!

In a piece under the paper’s “Civics” section, The Times wrote a sympathetic pro-media piece aimed at kids ages 13 years and up. That is fine enough, but the framing of this is disturbing in how they appear to be molding developing news consumers to be working with the mindset that President Trump is murdering the press.

It declares that the president “attacked the news media” and then goes on to posit how this is reflective of what has been seen from oppressive Communist regimes:

What would happen if they couldn’t freely investigate and report the news? For example, what if journalists were barred from informing the public about the actions of powerful people like government officials, billionaires, corporate executives, university presidents, religious leaders and celebrities? In Russia, President Vladimir V. Putin has successfully silenced independent journalism and turned the press into a propaganda tool for the government. In China, the internet is a government-controlled parallel universe; there is no Google, YouTube, Facebook or X.

That is all gripping and serious stuff to absorb, but of course, there is a tiny, miniscule detail left off of this dramatic read; President Trump is doing none of these things they listed off.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – NBC NEWS

  • We were reliably told this is an admission that they are not a legitimate news organization.

In yet another case of a news outlet settling a defamation suit, MSNBC has reached an agreement with the doctor suing the network over the many reports claiming he was performing unneeded hysterectomies on female immigrants held by ICE. MSNBC settled a similar suit over this reporting back in February, and now the former parent company of the cable network has done so in kind.

The trial was set to begin on the 22nd of this month, but now the doctor has pulled the case after he and MSNBC have reached a settlement. Let us now recall how the various networks energetically covered the Fox News defamation result – as they quietly ignore yet another instance with another network – declaring that it was a sign of Fox admitting guilt.
