Pre-Written Field Reports – CBS NEWS

  • It seems doing homework is beyond her skill set.

Margaret Brennan once again is shamed by a Republican guest, based entirely on her preconceived approach to a story. This time it was Marco Rubio, schooling Brennan on her reactionary defense of the deportation of Hamas sympathizer Mahmoud Khalil. Marge made it seem as if Khalil’s attachment to Hamas and terrorist sympathizing was a gauzy mystery, but had she done a modicum of research, she would not appear so daft as she does in this exchange.

Body Checking the Fact-Checkers – POLITIFACT

  • She should just stop lying, we have to guess.

Karoline Leavitt has not been the White House press secretary for two months yet. That said, she has amassed more fact-checks by the viscounts of vérité at PolitiFact more than Jen Psaki had in her entire tenure in the same role.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – MSNBC

  • Where he was unearthed from, Chris should be put back.

Sometimes we forget how dodgy and biased Chris Matthews had been while at MSNBC, so it is always a good refresher when he pops back on the scene. He also reminds us how slanted the network has become, because even as biased as he blatantly is, he is a toned-down version of the current model.

Even so, Chris manages to deliver the goods – that is to say, the bad content. Matthews was making an encore appearance with “Morning Joe” and he makes the odd claim that no one is fact-checking the Trump administration. Not only is this wildly off base (look at the flood of those after the joint session speech) but is it not the role of basic journalism to provide the facts, Chris? Why is there a need for an adjunct entity, unless the press is not doing the job of delivering accurate information?

Stealth Story Evolution – THE SACRAMENTO BEE

  • The shift away from a subtle dig was apparent – and called out.

The press sure loves the implication of Republicans any chance they find it. Or…create it. The California publication was covering the spring meeting of the state Republican Party where they chose Corrin Rankin as the new party chairwoman.

On the site’s social media account, it chose an image with Rankin having her hand held out in front of herself, and after catching flack for the image selection, the outlet swapped out the shot for a more mundane and less inciteful image.

DNC PR Firm – MSNBC

  • He is going to fit in there just perfectly.

It was recently announced that Eugene Daniels was leaving his position with Politico to take a role at the revamped MSNBC. He is displaying all the skills needed to thrive at that hive of partisanship as he was on “Meet the Press” and laying out the moves the Democrats needed to undertake concerning a recent Trump and Elon Musk appearance.

While this is not the least bit surprising to see from a hack at that network, it stands out that Daniels is also still in the position of president of the White House Correspondents' Association, so his delivering a playbook for one party appears rather problematic.
