Where Are Sheryl Crow and 'Elvira' to Condemn Violence Against Tesla Dealerships?"

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

Sheryl Crow recently posted a video on Instagram of a tow truck hauling away her Tesla.  Said Crow on the site: “There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long, Tesla.  Money donated to @npr, under threat by President Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth.”

Soon thereafter, Cassandra Peterson, better known as “Elvira,” also posted a video of her Tesla being towed away on Instagram.  It's not original anymore, but she did add “Elon Sux” on the side door with the X using the same font as Musk’s social media site.

Did Crow and Peterson do so to protest Elon Musk truly, or did they do so because their careers were on the wane and they were in desperate need of attention. Hence, they decided to virtue signal their “anger” to the greater far-left audience in search of clicks?    Possibly a bit of both.

Let’s assume it was not all self-serving and that there was a smidge of a protest angle to it all. Sheryl Crow declared she staged—and filmed—the stunt “in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth.”

Okay.  Let’s go with that for a moment.  One can safely assume that before Musk bought Twitter and turned it into X, Crow was a fan of him and his car line—much the same for Peterson.  So, speaking of the “truth,” before Musk bought Twitter, did Crow believe it to be a bastion of “truth” and not a censorship machine activated against conservatives, Republicans, and people of faith, as tens of millions of Americans believed.

Are Crow and Peterson fans of hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars being wasted and even stolen within our federal government?   Are they – like the Democratic “leadership” – actually angry with Musk for exposing such massive fraud, waste, and abuse?  Like so many entrenched elites from the left living in bubbles of wealth and privilege high above the “unwashed masses,” would they simply tell working-class Americans to “eat cake?”

Do Crow and Peterson believe words and actions can also have negative repercussions or add to the dehumanizing of those they oppose?  With their totally self-serving videos, Crow and Peterson have made their views known about Musk.  Collectively, the videos received millions of views.  Mission accomplished.

That stated, what do Crow and Peterson have to say about the chilling and obscene violence now being directed at Tesla dealerships in the United States?  Dealerships that have been firebombed, vandalized, and shot up.

This is truly the height of left-wing anarchy and insanity.  Would Crow, Peterson, or anyone now on the fringe left who “hates” Elon Musk be okay with a salesperson for Tesla being murdered?  What about a janitor?  Or a delivery person?  Is a certain percentage of human collateral damage now permissible in the mission to take down Elon Musk?

Before all the hate-filled rhetoric, these Tesla employees were simply working to pay the bills and feed their families.  Now, they are targets.

Would those on the left with this growing irrational, unhinged, and obviously quite dangerous hatred of Elon Musk be open to him being assassinated?  Does your hate truly run that deep?

Musk has spoken of the multiple death threats he has gotten over the last number of months.  Some are spelled out in graphic detail.   While on the air with Joe Rogan, Musk said some on the left have literally talked about desiccating his body after he is killed.  Who on the left is okay with that?

Do words and actions matter?  If so, when can such words or actions trigger an unbalanced and hate-filled mind?

The left, the Biden-Harris White House, and the Biden-Harris Department of Justice continually theorized about violence from the “right.” They talked endlessly about violence coming from “right-wing militias.”  And as they did so, they purposely ignored violence, murder, and massive property destruction from the left.

That would be the ANTIFA-BLM protests, riots, looting, anarchy, and violence that took place after George Floyd’s death in May of 2020.  Billions in property damage, thousands of small businesses destroyed, thousands of police officers attacked with hundreds severely wounded, tens of people murdered, and Portland, Oregon, under siege for three months.

Back then, during the costliest anarchy in our nation's history, Crow and Peterson presumably still liked Elon Musk. With him, not a rhetorical target, did they have any opinions regarding the lives and livelihoods of the thousands of Americans forever impacted by that anarchy from the left?

Tragically, that violence from the left is reemerging across our nation.  Back then, many of the Antifa anarchists turned out to be rich, entitled white kids eager to turn to violence.  I suspect it is much the same now.

As we see this new and indiscriminate violence being directed at Tesla dealerships, where are the voices of the Democratic leaders?? Where are the voices of the attention-starved AOC and Jasmine Crockett?  Again, where are Crow and Peterson's voices?

Words do matter.  Silence does matter.  Both can activate or encourage sick and twisted minds to do the unthinkable.

Which words or silence activated the sick minds that tried to assassinate then-former President Donald J. Trump in July and September of 2024?  When is it our responsibility to take back certain words or speak out so our silence is not misinterpreted?

The violence we are now witnessing being directed at Tesla Dealerships brought on by the unhinged hatred of Elon Musk must be stopped.  The best and fastest way to stop such violence is for cooler heads from the left, who have made their dislike of Musk known, to step up and condemn the violence in the strongest possible terms.

Crow and Peterson have made their self-serving anti-Musk videos.  Now, maybe they can each put out a video demanding a stop to the violence directed at the Tesla dealerships.  Innocent lives are at stake, and the violence is escalating.
