Mayorkas Finally Admits What We All Knew

On February 4, 2021 — barely two weeks after Joe Biden’s inauguration and four days after Alejandro Mayorkas was confirmed as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security — Townhall reported from southern Arizona on the “emerging border crisis that has begun to take shape with President Joe Biden reversing key immigration policies set in place by former President Donald Trump.”

Fast forward 1,161 days and Secretary Mayorkas finally admitted on Wednesday that there is a "crisis" at the border as his Senate impeachment trial for dereliction of duty looms. The long overdue admission from Mayorkas came courtesy of Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA):

Through those intervening days, weeks, and years that Mayorkas lied about the state of things at the U.S.-Mexico border, Townhall continued to report on the border crisis as it developed, worsened, and then got worse yet.

Our team has embedded dozens of times at the border with state officials fighting to fulfill the duties abdicated by the Biden administration, lawmakers working to implement legislative requirements for Biden to secure the border, and Americans who live along the border facing the consequences of the crisis.

It was as apparent in early 2021 as it is now that the Biden administration has no interest in maintaining a secure border, zero desire to stop the resulting record-setting surge of illegal aliens and contraband streaming into the United States, and every intention of lying to the American people about it.

For years, Mayorkas lied about the situation at the border and its deadly consequences. He flatly denied the existence of a crisis and sought to minimize it as merely a “challenge.” He got away with it for too long with the help of the mainstream media. At last, after being impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives, Mayorkas admitted the truth: the border is in crisis. It's far too little way too late — he's already been impeached, but Democrats are still trying to avoid the embarrassment of a full trial in the Senate.

It's understandable why Democrats would prefer to upend Senate tradition to avoid having the truth of Mayorkas and the Biden Administration’s border crisis put on full display for the American people, but no less shameful. They don't want to have the secret flights in the middle of the night sending illegal aliens to towns across the U.S. interior, the mass-parole policies that saw 95.8 percent of "inadmissible" illegal aliens released into the country, or the dangers posed by millions of "known got-aways" highlighted on Capitol Hill.

Years of telling these stories that debunked the Biden administration’s false narrative and exposed the true crisis at the border wouldn’t have been possible without Townhall’s loyal VIP members. With their direct support, Townhall was able to report from the front lines of the border crisis President Biden refuses to even visit — and do so without fear of the Big Tech-government-censorship complex used by the Biden administration to silence its critics.
