Black in America? You got it made.

As an outsider, maybe I see it more clearly.

After all, sometimes a spectator sees more of the game.

I’ve watched as Ferguson burns. From a bar in New York City, I’ve observed five St Louis Rams players standing with their hands raised (a gesture used by demonstrators protesting the decision of the St. Louis County grand jury), before arriving on the field. I’ve witnessed the race hustlers like Al Sharpton do their thing.

And I can’t believe it.

I mean, who are they kidding?

The US is the least racist society on earth. It is the best place in the world for a black to live. That’s why more black Africans have immigrated to the US voluntarily than came as slaves. It’s also why no black Americans have decided to leave America for anywhere, including black Africa.

The great triumph of America and E pluribus Unum has been its celebration of the individual over race and ethnicity. It’s what makes it the least racist multi-racial society in the world. It’s not diversity that makes America great, but its ability to unify the diverse.

People from all over the world that have immigrated to, or even just visited America, know that this is one nation where one’s ethnic heritage is mere trivia- it makes no difference. In other parts of the world, the first question asked at a social gathering is- where do you come from? What is your background? Not so in America. Everyone is an American.

But, still there are those invested in separatism.

Racism in America is an infinitesimal problem, and yet causes such apoplexy on the Left. Why? Victimhood and the culture of complaint play well politically.

The people in Ferguson are using race as both a shield and a sword, an art President Obama has mastered during his six years in office.

Consider this. The President of the United States is as white as he is black. But yet he has focused his identity on his African heritage. If America was the racist place it is said to be, would this be so?

Even better questions: if America is so racist, why is there such an illegal immigration problem? Why do more people want to come to America than anywhere else?

My heart goes out to the family of Michael Brown. But this should not be used by others to perpetuate a narrative that is patently false.

Unless plain speaking is allowed, clear thinking is denied.

As far as Ferguson is concerned, America ought to try both.
