Thanks be to God for bringing me (and you) to Vol. 300 — coincidentally, the last of 2025. I believe this study was a divine appointment. It began when my Townhall piece on the Shroud of Turin, “Would Physical Evidence Strengthen Your Faith?” was posted on April 12, 2019, the Friday before Palm Sunday.
Fortunately, it ranked first on Townhall’s “most read” list.
Then, two months later, about an unrelated topic, I emailed a Salem Media executive whom I knew from attending several RedState Gatherings. During our exchange, he casually mentioned that my April Shroud of Turin piece had “done very well” and suggested I write a weekly Sunday “faith piece.”
My response was unenthusiastic because, since 2010, I had been a conservative political op-ed writer and NOT a faith writer, except occasionally about the Shroud of Turin.
Nonetheless, God’s plan unfolded slowly, leading me to start writing a weekly Bible study. I freely admit I am not a Bible scholar, but I have great faith in Jesus. For decades, beginning at age 20, the Lord intervened. He directed my path from non-practicing Judaism (my birth religion) through various Christian sects, ending with Catholicism — each offering me a distinct and deep perspective. Still, I had never considered publicly sharing my strong religious convictions.
To my surprise, once the study began in February 2020, it gained a following, and I received encouragement from readers worldwide through onsite comments and personal emails.
Amazingly, here we are at Vol. 300, which indirectly began with a popular Shroud of Turin piece in 2019. To that, I will pay homage, and then share some groundbreaking Shroud news.

But first, some background. In the 1990s, I became interested in the Shroud of Turin. I firmly believed that the 14.3-foot-long linen cloth bearing the bloodstained image of a crucified man was physical evidence that Jesus was the Messiah. The Shroud showed the torturous marks He endured, and I was moved by what Pope John Paul II famously said in 1998:
“For the believer, what counts above all is that the Shroud is a mirror of the Gospel…”
While my faith in Jesus began to form in 1975, I required no physical proof and had never heard of the Shroud. Nonetheless, decades later, I knew the mysterious linen cloth had been left by God and had survived to this day against all odds.
Then, starting in 2018, some Shroud scholars and I began trying to convince the newly opened Museum of the Bible to host a Shroud exhibit, which opened in February 2022. Today, I lead a Shroud ministry, and in the spring, our latest exhibit will open at the Mary, Queen of the Universe Basilica in Orlando, Florida.
Now here is the “groundbreaking news.” Some dear friends and associates have toiled for years to create a monumental high-tech exhibit called The Shroud of Turin – An Immersive Experience. This 10,000-square-foot exhibit opened on November 19 in Garden Grove, California, near Disneyland on the Christ Cathedral campus in Orange County.
There has been overwhelmingly positive secular press coverage. I will quote from the Associated Press because they are known for reporting straight news:
The exhibit “uses digital projection, artificial intelligence, and special effects to introduce visitors to the life of Jesus as depicted in the Gospels with a focus on the mysterious linen burial cloth that believers say wrapped his body after the crucifixion.”
A force behind the exhibit is a Shroud expert friend who was quoted in the AP article:
"We're inviting all into the tomb to see what Jesus' Apostles John and Peter saw," said Nora Creech, North America director of Othonia. "And then we're encouraging them to explore and question, just like Jesus told Thomas. Put your hands here and probe around, examine, ask all your questions. The Shroud holds up to it. It encourages curiosity and can withstand every level of scrutiny."
Nora told me, “The exhibit uses the Shroud as a lens to see and better understand the Christian faith. It presents Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah, Gospel descriptions of Jesus's life, death, burial, and Resurrection, and how we worship today, all with the clear understanding that Jesus is still with us.” Nora exclaimed, “The Shroud is an ‘Icon written in Blood.’ You can't help but be moved by the blood and wounds clearly visible on the Shroud. The Shroud is an invitation to ‘see and believe.’”
The usually very secular LA Times also reviewed the exhibit and reported:
“On the second floor of a cultural center at Christ Cathedral in Orange County, an AI-rendered depiction of Jesus, calm and smiling, fills one side of the room. Breaking a piece of flatbread in two, he passes it to the 12 similarly enlarged men projected on all four walls around him. On the ground are images of heaping plates of food — roast lamb, vegetables, olives, and dips. ‘Take and eat,’ the AI Jesus says. ‘This is my body.’ In the center of the room, real-life visitors arrayed on 26 swivel chairs turn their heads back and forth to take in the supersized Last Supper occurring all around them.
“Already, they have been plunged into the sea of Galilee, watching as Jesus walked on water and witnessed his transfiguration on a mountain top. It was all part of what’s being touted as ‘a museum unlike any other, where faith and forensics meet.’”
Given that review, I asked the Shroud exhibit creator, Jason Pearson — immersive Film Director at Five Hive Studios — for his thoughts about the visitor experience. "This isn't your grandparents' museum,” he said. “We have three immersive theaters that function like time machines, transporting visitors back to ancient times. We've been able to tell 12 stories from Jesus's life in a way that has never been done before—in 4D, with 360-degree projection and floor effects, with sound that pulls you into the scenes. It's not like watching a movie; it's like being in the movie."
On purpose, Jason said, “The exhibit is designed for everyone—preteens, young adults, adults, and seniors. Every visitor will walk away having experienced something they'll remember forever."
The Shroud of Turin and this Bible study are intertwined with and for Jesus. After I told Nora Creech I planned to mention the immersive Shroud exhibit in my last 2025 study, I hadn't realized it was Vol. 300. Only then did I recall that my 2019 Shroud piece had sparked this study.
Having been born Jewish and writing a Christian Bible study means I receive emails from Jewish rabbis who are not fans and insist that I “come home to Judaism.” But I believe that having faith in the Jewish Jesus is the most Jewish belief one can hold. Moreover, if you need evidence, the Shroud has survived for centuries for those who need to see before they have faith in Him.
Finally, I thank God, all my loyal readers, the Townhall editors, and Salem Media for allowing God to use me through this study to bring His Word to life.
Happy New Year to all. Praise be to God, Lord Jesus, the Jewish King of Kings!
