When the left targets someone like the Predator with its shoulder cannon, there’s no stopping them. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is the latest target. In some ways, it’s something different as they’ve moved on from Donald Trump to a certain degree—they’ve hurled the whole library at the man, not just the book, and lost. So, if it’s not raging about Trump 24/7, it’s Elon Musk. But for this Easter, it was Mr. Hegseth—and it’s the same old crap again.

We’re back to SignalGate. They’re trying to reboot this non-story about an encrypted chat with top Trump officials again. In that first kerfuffle, top advisers supposedly shared top secret war plans on anti-Houthi operations with The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg who was inadvertently added to the chat. That proved to be fake news; no war plans were shared. Even when the story was dying, and the publication was forced to share the texts it vowed to never reveal out of respect for handling sensitive information—a stance that lasted 18 hours—it exposed nothing.

Now, the media are trying to toss Hegseth’s wife into the fire, claiming she attended meetings where sensitive information was disclosed. Better yet, and this where the reboot happens, Mrs. Hegseth is part of another Signal chat where military strike information was shared. First, Signal is a government-approved messaging app. This app was previously downloaded onto these government devices. Also, where are the screenshots of these chats?

Of course, no one has them: it’s all based on anonymous sources. The whole gambit is discount cloak and dagger antics, and no one has a shred of proof. It was a two-pronged assault, with The New York Times pitching SignalGate 2.0 and Politico publishing an op-ed from his top aide, John Ullyot, who is resigning and alleges the Pentagon is a Chinese fire drill and for the good of the nation, Trump should fire Hegseth. He, too, included the recent Signal story, the investigation into its use after The Atlantic story, and the firings of top aides, which he alleges were not done due to the leaking of classified information to the media.

To those who didn’t follow the prolonged character assassination attempt on Hegseth, one would conclude that this was a well-reasoned take, but the jig is up. National Public Radio reported on a search to replace Hegseth during the White House Easter Egg Roll yesterday, which was quickly shot down as fake news. There are two objectives here: to clip Hegseth and to stop Trump officials from using Signal, which prevent the Deep State from spying on them.

Not today, Satan. Hegseth is staying, as he should.
