If it weren’t for the fact that it is Democrats doing it, it would almost be shocking that there is so much opposition to the efforts of Mr. Trump, through DOGE, to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government. What person, in their right mind, could possibly be against having THEIR tax dollars used wisely, not wasted on frivolous, unnecessary projects, or just flat being abused by unscrupulous politicians and bureaucrats? Even Bernie Sanders, back in 2008, is on tape saying that government waste should be excised. Why such hostility now?
Well, I briefly mentioned one reason in the above paragraph: what person, “in their right mind,” would disapprove of it? Suppose there is one thing that is increasingly clear in America now, and it is a frightening thing. In that case, there are more and more Americans who are NOT “in their right mind,” they’ve completely lost all contact with reality, truth, common sense, decency, and civilized normality. America, heading morally in its current direction, is descending into barbarism, another Dark Ages. These freaks, perverts, and decadents in the Democratic Party are multiplying like rabbits, and there seems to be no effective way of stopping their spread. Again, NOBODY, thinking clearly, would oppose eliminating government waste, fraud, and abuse. But the Democrats do. Hence, the only logical conclusion is, these people are no longer “in their right mind,” and that is plainly manifest in many other things they do as well.
But let me suggest a few other reasons why the Democrats resist DOGE so mightily. There are probably other reasons, but I think these fit many/most cases.
1. They hate Donald Trump. Some people have lost total control of their emotions when it comes to Donald Trump. They have no ability to think lucidly or rationally about Mr. Trump. Now, to be honest, a lot of conservatives show the same symptoms when it comes to the “mainstream media,” Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and other contemptible Democrats. But TDS—Trump Derangement Syndrome—is obviously with us, and it doesn’t matter what Mr. Trump does, he’s wrong, they hate him, and they always will. So, for some people, their opposition to DOGE is for the simple reason that Mr. Trump supports it.

However, the hatred lies deeper than just for President Trump. If Ron DeSantis had been elected President, and had appointed Elon Musk to head DOGE and filter out government waste, the reaction of the Left would be the same. The roots here are in a hatred of America, a hatred of the traditions, moral code, and virtuous republican ideals that the country was founded upon. To them, right now, Trump represents the America they loathe. If any other Republican tried to do the same things Trump is doing, the Left would equally despise that person. But, currently, Trump is the primary target of their revulsion. Wait until 2028, and if a Trumpian populist gets the Republican nomination for President, we will see the same vile and detestation poured on that person. The Left hates Trump, but they hate Trump because they hate the America he represents. That’s the deeper issue.
2. The Democrats love big government. One of the reasons the Democrats and the Left abhor America is that the whole matter has become ideological to them—they are totalitarian, or, at best, big government globalists, anti-limited government Marxists, and their whole world view now is that the expansion of government is a good thing, that government is the ultimate source of authority (not God), and that they (the Left, through government) can guide the world to a brighter future and bring salvation to mankind. Man-made climate change is an example. They believe it and think only the government can stop it. As noted, they hate limited government, so they hate the Judeo-Christian moral code upon which America’s Founders-based limited government. Thus, the government must control the education system to indoctrinate children on the correct path—away from American traditional virtues and values. Marx said, “The education of all children, from the moment they can get along without a mother’s care, shall be in state institutions.” That’s pretty clear.
Therefore, any effort to cut or limit government spending is like the Chinese Communist Party’s organ harvesting—Elon Musk is cutting out Democratic Party body parts, disemboweling them. Nearly ANY government cuts are anathema to them—unless the cuts were to eliminate Trump-supported policies. The Left wants to control the government and doesn’t want any opposition or cuts to their expansion of government.
3. The waste, fraud and abuse are mostly from the Left’s creations. And one final reason I suggest Democrats are so opposed to eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse is that they are the ones most guilty of it. Their sins are being exposed by the light of DOGE—things like money for transgender mice. They don’t want people knowing that because they know most people would be, rightly, horrified to learn that their tax dollars are being spent on such revolting, useless activities. So, DOGE is revealing the venality and corruption that the Democrats have been slipping into the government’s budgets for years. That’s not good for election politics. The Republicans, in next year’s mid-term elections, must keep this before the American people: the Democratic Party is, far and away, most guilty of abusing the American people and their tax dollars.
But ultimately, this is an ideological battle, a battle between totalitarian globalism (Marxism) and virtuous, limited government American nationalism (constitutionalism). The Democrats believe in government. They want more of it, and they want control of it to have the power to implement their world vision and thereby deny individual freedom to the people. They see Donald Trump as taking that power away from them. It’s an ideological war, and only the future will tell who will win it.
