Ahmed’s Dad, Called “Standout Citizen” by Media, Runs Arabic Facebook Page Linking Son’s Clock Incident with 9/11 Conspiracy Theories

Ahead of a highly anticipated promised meeting with President Obama at the White House, the father of high school student Ahmed Mohamed may have linked his son’s clock incident with a conspiracy about American government involvement in the 9/11 attacks.

The media, initially in a frenzy of relentlessly positive reporting, profiled Ahmed’s father. On September 16, the New York Daily News lionized Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed by comparing him to his now-famous son, Ahmed.

“The apple doesn't fall far from the tree,” wrote the Daily News’ Nina Golgowski, who also lauded Mohamed as a “standout citizen”. (To make it even more explicit, the Daily News URL, possibly reflecting the article’s original title, is “father-muslim-kid-arrested-clock-standout-citizen.”)

Golgowski and the Daily News might be embarrassed, as Mohamed—a former Sudanese National Reform party candidate for president of that country—has featured posts and a video endorsing 9-11 conspiracy theories, alleging US government involvement in the attacks on their city.

The latest post, published by Breitbart News, puts the events surrounding Mohamed’s son Ahmed’s ‘clock’ incident in context of the father’s efforts at Islamic activism, providing the motivation for what many have described as a probable hoax intended to generate a media firestorm against the local school district and police.

An Arabic Facebook post from September 28th that writes that “the war against terror is nothing more than an illusion made in America—as al-Qaida was made in America, as well as what is happening now in the Arab East at the hands of the West.” The post also goes on to say that “50% of Americans have come to realize” that “September 11th” was “planned precisely to launch the war on Iraq.”

The post then transitions to discussing Ahmed Mohamed’s detention by police for bringing a hoax bomb to school, saying that it would not have happened “were he not Muslim and Sudanese.”

The author asserts that the portrayal of Muslims by the media will be proven wrong, and “this will lead to the spread of Islam” and create “opportunities to show Islam,” and links to Quran Sura 16:125,

“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them with that which is best. Truly, your Lord best knows who has strayed from His path, and He best knows those who are guided.”

The author then links to an article at the website Collective Evolution by Arjun Walia. Walia claims to provide evidence that Al Qaeda was a creation of the CIA, that the World Trade Center was brought down by “controlled demolition”, and that most terror attacks are “false flag operations.”

This conspiracy post appears on the same National Reform Facebook page where pictures of a smiling Ahmed Mohammed and his father Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed greet national- and state-level politicians and foreign emissaries. That includes meeting the Foreign Minister of Sudan at the United Nations in New York. Federal prosecutors listed the Sudanese UN Mission as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 WTC bombing.

Will the media, which repeatedly highlighted Mohamed’s Sudanese political party as evidence of moderation and reform, ask Mohamed about his views on 9-11, and whether he supports his party’s views regarding 9/11 being a U.S. government conspiracy against Muslims? Will they ask whether he was involved in perpetrating his own hoax, as a way to change the media narrative and “spread Islam?”

Author's note: Below is the full translation of The National Reform's (al-Islah al-Watani) Facebook post from September 27, 2015.

Conclusion: That the war against terror is nothing more than an illusion made in America—as al-Qa`ida was made in America, as well as what is happening now in the Arab East at the hands of the West.

The events of September 11th were planned precisely to launch the war on Iraq, and 50% of the American people are becoming aware of that.

Moreover, what happened to Ahmed Mohammed would not have occurred were he not Muslim and Sudanese.

This is what shocked the West, and made Obama seek to honor him, rather than his terrorism or that of students like him.

American society has come to live in fear of all that is Muslim or black due to the state-controlled media.

And I would add:

It is a fear that will turn into confidence in all that is Muslim, because what the American media present is nothing more than a lie that has no relation to reality. This will lead to the spread of Islam.

The Muslims are endowed with the noble qualities of their morals—they must exploit every opportunity to reveal the truth of Islam: “Call the way to your Lord with wisdom and goodly exhortation, and have disputations with them in the best manner; surely your Lord best knows those who go astray from His path, and He knows best those who follow the right way.”—Qur’an; Surat al-Nahl (The Bee), 16: 125
