You have to sit in slack-jawed amazement at just how inept our ruling caste is, looking on as Pete Buttigieg chestfeeds while the supply chain burns.

Look, I’m not Catholic and I’m not presuming to tell anybody about their own sect, but what is the deal with this Pope?

Will Glenn Youngkin win? Actually, the question is really whether the people of Virginia are idiots aching for the comforting embrace of a corporatist nanny state. Hope not.

Pete Buttigieg Is A Really Bad Transportation Secretary

I guess it’s a little much to expect competence from the guy who got handed the SecTrans gig as a pay-off for losing the primary gracefully to the desiccated old freak masquerading as president. And it’s probably actually a testament to the hard work of serious people in the decades-long past that we could be so frivolous as to put this ridiculous little man into a position that has a huge influence on the systems that get us our food and other necessities. They built a country so strong that the clown who has inherited its leadership seems to take for granted that it will just keep grinding out prosperity no matter how badly they screw things up.

Buttigieg just abandoned his gig. Just up and left. Adios. See ya. He and his mate adopted a kid, so away he went for a couple of months on paternity leave. Here’s an unpopular opinion among some – fathers don’t need two months of leave. Why? Because they are men and women are mothers and the mother should be with the baby. Obviously, in this situation, there is no mother, so pick one, and it probably should not be the cabinet secretary.

It’s just remarkable how these people simply assume the system work and will always work regardless of how they fail to do their jobs, or even when they actively undercut the system. Pete’s latest insight was that the coming supply shortages will just be evidence of our great economic success, so when you can’t replace the alternator on your Ford or 80/20 ground beef is $9 a pound, just revel in the glory of our wonderous elite. Remember, the worse things get, the better job they’ve done. And if you disagree, you are literally Hitler.

What Is Up With The Pope?

Look, I am not Catholic. I’m Methodist, or was until I left after a fight with a pastor. The woke leaders of that church could not bring themselves to say their own religion was true and literally went along with the “Who is to say other religions aren’t right?” I don’t expect a lot from clerics in of organized, or Protestant, sects, but I do insist they believe in their own religion.

We found a church that does, but it’s not Catholic. I have a number of friends, however, who for years have urged me to go Rome. I respect the traditions. I dig the grandeur. I hate the guitars in the churches I grew up in. But I still have the Protestant attitude of “Wait, why do you think you have a better connection to the Lord than me?”

I get the purpose of the pope. I think John Paul II was one of the greatest men of the last century. Yet this pope strikes me as odd. He sounds an awful lot like a sociology grad student with some New Testament thrown in. Last week, he cited George Floyd, and not as a cautionary example. He buys into the climate hoax and has huge issues with capitalism. I just don’t get it.

But that’s the beauty of freedom of religion. I don’t have to get it. What I think matters not at all. I can scratch my head but I will not be disrespectful to him or his faithful, and I mean no offense when I observe that he is not in my chain of religious command. I just don’t get how he can play footsie with Marxism when Marxists think religion is the opiate of the masses and are eager to fight their own war on drugs.

Maybe my Catholic friends will explain it all to me sometime, preferably over some non-communion wine.

Terry McAuliffe v. Trump

Well, since he can’t run against Glenn Youngkin, who is straight as an arrow, common-sense, and not the kind of bomb-thrower I prefer at all, the famously corrupt Democrat has chosen to run against a guy who is not even on Twitter. Apparently, Youngkin is a Trumper, which is news to actual Trumpers, but a bunch of VA Democrats are buying it. Sure, Democrats are either dumb or venal, or both, but it’s pretty hilarious to see this nice guy labeled Trump II, as if he’s going to show up in a solid gold Escalade with a couple of Playmates firing off mean tweets about the size of Ana Navarro’s caboose.

Sure, I’d love that, and so would you, but we’re not the norm in Old Dominion.

Will it work? The polls are at best tied, with most showing the ex-governor up about 3%-5%. It’s possible the polls are wrong and that Youngkin comes through beyond the margin of fraud – McAuliffe’s bizarre gaffe about how parents have no business deciding what the public schools teach their kids was pretty remarkable.

But then, Virginia is a blue state now, and the allegedly well-educated voters of Northern VA might very well decide that the education of their kids is a small sacrifice to make to keep the scary Trump doppelganger in the polo shirt at bay. They’ve chosen failure before – their last gov couldn’t remember if he was the guy in the photo in black face or the guy in the Klan robes.

Trump has deranged these people. Any sane people would leap at the chance for a steadfastly normal and sober guy like Youngkin when faced with that election-denying charlatan. But whoever said Democrats were sane? Or smart?
