Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs) are being targeted in a multimillion-dollar, government-sponsored propaganda campaign designed to present abortion as the only option for women. The ACLJ is fighting back in a big way, launching our largest media campaign ever and backing it with legal teeth.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, under the leadership of far-Left Governor Maura Healey, has allied with the abortion industry (namely a group called Reproductive Equity Now (REN)) to discredit and dismantle every pro-life center in the state. Its campaign unjustly labels PRCs as “anti-abortion centers," accusing them of deceiving vulnerable pregnant women with unqualified staff, false information, and misleading advertising. The truth, however, is that these are the very tactics being used by abortion clinics themselves – designed to push women into their abortion mills.

PRCs in reality provide essential resources to pregnant women facing difficult decisions. From meeting basic needs like diapers, clothes, and formula to offering services such as pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and counseling, PRCs play a crucial role in supporting millions of expectant mothers each year. These centers often focus on helping low-income individuals, not just those in “crisis” pregnancies. According to the Lozier Institute, PRCs saved more than 800,000 babies between 2016 and 2020 alone – and millions throughout their existence. Given this impactful work, the actions taken by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are not only predictable but deeply despicable.

An entire section on the state’s official website is dedicated to the so-called AVOID Anti-Abortion Centers initiative. Beyond the website, they’ve launched a full-scale, taxpayer-funded media blitz, including billboards, posters, social media materials, transit, radio, and more.

According to the pro-abortion propaganda campaign website

"Anti-abortion centers, often called “crisis pregnancy centers,” look like medical facilities but don’t offer comprehensive care. Some may not offer any medical care. They may mislead you about your options if you’re pregnant and can put your health at risk."

Creatively crafted lies are still lies. These lies portray PRCs as shadowy scammers preying on vulnerable pregnant women. As for not offering comprehensive care, the abortionists should just say what they really mean – pro-life centers don’t kill babies.

At a special press conference, Healey proudly touted her state’s new counterfeit “public education campaign”:

"In Massachusetts, we are committed to protecting and expanding access to safe and legal abortion. . . . That includes protecting patients from the deceptive and dangerous tactics that anti-abortion centers often use to stop people from accessing comprehensive reproductive services. This campaign is an important way to provide accurate information so residents can make informed decisions about reproductive care that are right for them."

Equally unsettling as the governor’s comments is the state’s website pointing visitors to a REN site that lists all 30 PRCs in Massachusetts – or “anti-abortion centers” as they refer to them. With the rising vandalism and physical attacks on PRCs, this seems like an invitation to radical abortion supporters brazen enough to commit crimes.

Well, the ACLJ has seen enough, and we are taking steps to fight the “abortion distortion” that taxpayer money is funding in Massachusetts. That’s why we launched the media campaign, “Fight the MASS Deception,” to defend unborn babies, mothers, and pro-life healthcare professionals.

You can view each of the commercials we produced for the campaign here.

Our multitiered campaign utilizes print, television, and digital advertising to combat the lies of the Massachusetts smear campaign with truth, lifesaving information, and resources. We may be up against the deep pockets of the Massachusetts abortion lobby, but we can drown out their lies with the truth. We also produced original television commercials supporting PRCs that share stories of hope and opportunity. Women, babies, and families in Massachusetts need us to fight back against dangerous misinformation and deception.

Rest assured: If this campaign proves to be successful for abortionists in Massachusetts, a similar campaign will appear in your home state – as it has in California. And your taxes will pay for it.

Our multimedia campaign is necessary to counter the “mass deception,” but it’s not enough. We filed a lawsuit on behalf of Your Options Medical Centers (YOM) against Governor Healey, the Reproductive Equity Now Foundation, and others.

The lawsuit has been filed in federal district court and claims that Massachusetts government officials, led by Governor Healey, orchestrated a targeted campaign against YOM and other PRCs. This campaign includes selective law enforcement, public threats, and a state-sponsored advertising initiative aimed at suppressing the First Amendment rights of pro-life organizations.

Specifically, we claim violations of free speech, free exercise of religion, and equal protection under the law. Our lawsuit argues that the government has unconstitutionally coerced PRCs like YOM by threatening legal action and misrepresenting them publicly. Governor Healey has publicly falsely accused PRCs of engaging in deceptive and dangerous tactics, thereby infringing on YOM’s constitutional rights by encouraging complaints and legal action based on their political and religious viewpoints.

All three of our legal claims point to the same truth. The Left is waging a coordinated assault to threaten PRCs and stifle their views by burying them in complaints and violations. Such a targeted system of harassment and discrimination is unprecedented and unconstitutional. Their choice of words goes far beyond mere disagreement or criticism; the state has repeatedly accused PRCs of illegal behavior like deception, misrepresentation, and fraud.

We aim to protect PRCs from government interference and to defend their right to provide lifesaving services to the unborn. Join us in this defense and add your name to the petition: MASS DECEPTION: Defeat Pro-Abortion Propaganda.
