Tulsi Gabbard came out firing as she began her confirmation hearings on Thursday, and from her opening statement, it became obvious why Tulsi is President Donald Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence.
In her opening statement, Tulsi pulled no punches, diving right into the abuses of the Deep State and failures of the intelligence community, stating:
"I want to warn the American people watching at home: You will hear lies and smears that challenge my loyalty to and love for our country. Those who oppose my nomination imply that I am loyal to something or someone other than God, my own conscience, and the Constitution of the United States, accusing me of being Trump’s puppet, Putin’s puppet, Assad’s puppet, a guru’s puppet, Modi’s puppet, not recognizing the absurdity of simultaneously being the puppet of 5 different puppet masters."
I’ve known Tulsi and her family for many years. And she has been a colleague of mine for the past two years, providing our audience vital insights as the Sekulow broadcast’s Senior Military and Political Analyst. She’s a former congresswoman and presidential candidate, and, of course, President Donald Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence.
Throughout her political career, one truth about Tulsi has remained evident: her steadfast and strong love for our country. As a combat veteran who served multiple deployments in the Middle East, Tulsi is an example of strength, perseverance, and patriotism. Her extensive service to our country and commitment to bipartisanship make her an excellent choice to tackle the threats we face right now in America.

Tulsi came onto the national scene in 2012 after her election to Congress as a Democrat from Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district. Once considered a rising star in the Democrat Party, Tulsi rattled the Left in 2022 when she left the party to eventually become a Republican. In a video posted to social media, Tulsi said:
"I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party. It’s now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoking anti-white racism, who actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms enshrined in our Constitution."
In 2024, while standing next to President Trump at one of his campaign rallies in North Carolina, Tulsi officially joined the GOP and endorsed President Trump. The Deep State didn’t receive that move well.
In August 2024, whistleblowers revealed that Tulsi had been placed on the TSA’s Quiet Skies program, a covert surveillance initiative targeting potential terrorist threats. The surveillance began on July 23, 2024, with her being followed on every flight by an extensive security detail, including Explosive Detection Canine Teams, TSA specialists, and Federal Air Marshals.
Tulsi believes the surveillance was retaliation for a tweet criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris’ leadership, where she stated that Harris was not strong enough to stand up to adversaries and would be a puppet like President Biden.
Tulsi rightfully condemned the move, calling it “the ultimate betrayal” and that the TSA put her on the watchlist because the Biden-Harris Administration “sees me as a threat to their power.” The ACLJ quickly responded by submitting Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the Biden-Harris TSA, DHS, FBI, and DOJ over the unconstitutional targeting of Tulsi. And we continue to engage in this fight against the Deep State’s unconstitutional actions.
Tulsi’s nomination has been met by a Left that is out for retribution – not because of her qualifications, but because they are still fuming at her for switching to the Republican Party. Initially, the FBI delayed her background check. Leftist senators claimed she hadn’t provided the required vetting materials. This is false, but it’s not the first time Tulsi has been targeted.
Tulsi’s political transformation was driven by her integrity, her dedication to the country’s founding principles, and her desire to align with the values of the American people. Her bold leadership will be instrumental in addressing the numerous threats to our country. I have no doubt that she will catalyze a new era at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
