I wish Kurt Schlichter wasn’t writing books like "AMERICAN APOCALYPSE: The Second American Civil War" or its predecessor, "The Attack." Not because they aren’t good books; they are tremendous. But because they highlight just what a perilous time we live in and our desperate need to take this seriously. I wish we weren’t in this mess, but we are.
So, I thank him for writing these books, and I greatly encourage you to buy the new one and get your mind right about the dangers we face. The current ICE Insurrection of the revolutionary Left should be warning enough, especially coming only five years after the George Floyd Summer of Love violence. The Hamas mobs bridged the gap between these two uprisings, but they all share one thing in common. A desire to burn down this country and Western civilization.
We have to stop them, and we are at least starting to act like the threat is real. I wrote the book "Winning the Second Civil War: Without Firing a Shot" just after the 2020 election and the invented insurrection the media created out of the January 6 riot. It was an attempt to shock people with the consequences of refusing to get into the fight and change the course of this country.
Kurt wrote this blurb for the cover:
“Former Green Beret Jim Hanson knows about insurgencies. If we’re wise enough to follow his advice, we’ll win this war without there being any war at all.”
We even joked at the time that there might need to be a sequel, "Winning the Second Civil War: Firing All the Shots." Fortunately, many of you did get into the fight, and we did manage to reelect Donald Trump as president. And yet…we currently face an organized, well-funded and violent enemy and the shock troops of their revolution. The fight is far from won, and Kurt’s new book points out in graphic and engaging descriptions just how bad things could get.

Like all of Kurt’s books, this one draws you right in with beautifully crafted storytelling and detail. I remember reading the first Kelly Turnbull book in the "People’s Republic" series and being blown away. Not just by all the bad guys getting blown away, but by the vivid imagery and authentic dialogue that brought you right into the tale as a participant.
"American Apocalypse" is told in the style of his book "The Attack," with personal vignettes from the people involved. "The Attack" highlighted the grave danger of an open border combined with a determined and barbaric jihadist enemy bent on death and destruction. It was painful to read because it so easily could have been an actual historical record. Thank God it wasn’t and that our border is now secure, but that was just one symptom of the greater problem highlighted in this new book.
America is a country disunited by two incompatible ideologies — individual liberty and government control. Kurt shows us what happens when they finally clash for real. Modern Leftist politics is dominated by styles of Statism. It doesn’t matter what moniker you give it, Marxism, Communism, or even attempts to obfuscate it like the Democratic Socialism of the Commie Mayoral candidate for New York City.
The simple fact that Zohran Mamdani has an excellent chance of being the mayor of our most iconic city shows how close we are to the horror of the civil war Kurt foretells.
The book will pull you into the lives of Americans you will immediately feel you already know. All the different flavors that used to be known as the Melting Pot, until the Left decided that immigrants deserved to have the failed cultures of the crapholes they were fleeing enshrined and honored here.
The individual tales of pain, and loss and redemption are tough to take, but end up being inspiring as they are meant to be. I especially enjoyed meeting Stephanie Norton, a bad-ass former paratrooper with a combination of designer style and deadly skills modeled after my own lovely wife. All of the characters bring both the present danger and the necessary solution into critical focus. We either take the Left seriously when they say they want to kill us and destroy all that we stand for, or they will succeed.
They won’t, because we are going to take this warning shot to heart and redouble our efforts. We all know we would win a Second Civil War, just as we won the first one. But we all must be willing to do the work to avoid turning "American Apocalypse" into a prescient prediction.
