Clinton is Right — the Democrats Aren’t Civil

Hillary Clinton is finally being honest -- the Democrats aren’t interested in peace and civility.

Their politics of violence and obstruction has always been a deliberate strategy to intimidate their opponents — even if it tears America apart in the process.

While liberals generally attempt to conceal their true intentions, every so often they slip up and reveal the true face of the Democrat Party. That is exactly what Hillary Clinton did this week when discussing President Trump and his supporters.

"You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about," Clinton said in an interview with CNN.

"That's why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and or the Senate, that's when civility can start again,” she continued. “But until then, the only thing that the Republicans seem to recognize and respect is strength."

The former Democrat nominee for president is also right about the latter — Republicans do believe in strength, especially the strength of American unity and spirit. And that is precisely the source of Clinton’s annoyance.

The Democrat Party mantra to “never let a serious crisis go to waste” betrays the fact that civility is a real obstacle to their aspirations.

For decades, Democrats have relied on a strategy of dividing our society with vitriol and tribalism. By painting some groups as victims and others as “deplorables,” they have turned Americans against one another and used the ensuing chaos for their own political gain.

But there are consequences to these actions.

Families who support President Trump and his Republican allies are now targets of death threats, violence, and other forms of intimidation.

“I've never been like this in my whole life. We used to never even lock our doors, and now that has all changed,” Senator Rand Paul’s wife, Kelley Paul, said in a recent interview. “We've updated all of our security systems at home. I sleep with a loaded gun by my bed.”

America used to be a country that valued civil discourse and healthy debate — today, we are forced to bolt our doors and sleep beside our handguns because leading Democrats have persuaded their followers that those who ascribe to alternative viewpoints have forfeit their humanity. Something has to change.

Sadly for the American people, the madness unleashed by the Democrat Party in recent years will only plunge us further into social discord, as evidenced by the unhinged protesters who illegally stormed several Senate office buildings and the Supreme Court last week. Democrats may say that they stand for dialogue and civil discourse — but their actions show otherwise.

Faced with the emergence of Antifa — a domestic terrorist organization whose members don masks to protect their anonymity as they violently assault anyone they think might be conservative — most Democrats have remained mute.

Some, like the accused domestic abuser Rep. Keith Ellison, have even promoted the group’s tactics, in Ellison’s case by tweeting a picture of The Anti-Fascist Handbook while crowing that it should “strike fear in the heart” of President Trump.

As a mother, hearing this type of hatred coming from a senior member of Congress truly terrifies me. I want my children to inherit the sort of country that I grew up in, where reasonable people can disagree because they know that the folks on the other side are not monsters but people with sincerely held beliefs; not a country where having a political conversation might land them in the hospital, or worse.

If the Democrats win the midterm elections this November, they will only ramp up their campaign to obstruct President Trump by any means necessary. Civility will not return to America if the party of Antifa gets another chance to govern.
