Democrats Think People Miss Kamala

If you don’t hear from a politician for a while you can tend to forget they exist. That’s a good thing, your life is better without some blowhard lying to you as a job. That’s why the world is a better place with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris gone. Well, not completely gone.

Joe is, as best anyone with about 7.3 percent of their brain left functioning he can, trying to rehabilitate his image and distract from the destruction he caused. But we remember. His reemergence has worried Democrats – it’s like having an affair with your neighbor, even if it’s over your spouse has the constant reminder checking the mail every day. No one wants that.

Kamala was different, at least for a while. She went away, losing brings a demoralizing feeling and you just want to get away for a while. Her name was always floating around, but it was invoked a lot more than she said anything.

But she’s now given a speech – a pathetic one in which she whined about Trump – but it was forgotten before it was finished.

The fundraising machine she has – and it was a machine, having raised more than a billion dollars – still operated without her, money has a funny way of doing that.

Now she’s back. And Democrats seem to think she was missed, why else do it?

But they also seem to think people want her to run again, at least for something.

When it comes to fundraising emails, the biggest part of the battle is to get people to open it. That’s where the subject line comes from, and why they’re usually crazy or extreme, so you want to see what’s inside. Kamala’s subject line read, “My decision.”

The implication there is clearly that she’s going to let donors know if she’s running again or running for Governor of California. Like everything else about her (and Democrats), however, it was a lie. Her email was just a naked money grab.

“While I've tried not to personally send a ton of fundraising emails since the last election,” it opens, “I want to take a few minutes to tell you about how I've decided to approach this moment in time and why your support is so important in this struggle.  Here is the truth:  Some people are describing what’s been happening in recent months as absolute chaos. And of course, I understand why.”

Nothing about a “decision” at all. In fact, there isn’t anything about one in the whole email.

Instead, she continues, “It’s certainly true with those tariffs. Tariffs that — as I predicted — are clearly inviting a recession. But Derek, please, let us not be duped into thinking everything is chaos.  What we are witnessing is a swift implementation of an agenda that has been decades in the making.  An agenda to slash public education, to shrink government and privatize its services, all while giving tax breaks to the wealthiest among us.”

That agenda sounds pretty awesome, actually.

“I know a lot of folks are wondering what’s going to guide us through this moment... How are we all going to chart the course?” Get ready for the vapid, as she continued, “There is only one answer — and that is together. Everyone doing whatever it is they can: volunteering, organizing in your community, running for office, and more...”

“Together”? How inspiring, let me get my wallet.

Along that line, here comes the pitch. “But donations are critical too. Especially to the Democratic National Committee. They are leading so much of the good work being done to fight back against this administration's agenda and to elect a Democratic House and Senate. So please:  Make a contribution to the Democratic Party today. Make it a generous one — $5 or more if you can afford it. But the point is that lots of donations will add up fast when we're in this together.”

That’s it, that’s the message. Nothing about a decision, we have no idea what, if anything, she’s going to do next. Honestly, if I thought it would get her to run, I’d toss $5 her way.

It ends, “Thank you for reading this message and for doing what you can to help fight back.” She’s rich, as is her husband. Sure, he’s had to pay at least one mistress a wad of cash in the past (those things can add up), but they’re still sitting on a lot of money. They just want yours.

And some people will give it to them. Suckers.
