Tired of Being Tired?

A familiar refrain among Donald Trump supporters during his presidency was, “Are you tired of winning, yet?” Stronger borders, lower taxes, renegotiated trade deals, exits from globalist summits and confabs all fed the enthusiasm in the Trump voter that the country was back, and strong, and “winning, winning, winning.” It wasn’t as much Trump the man his voters were cheering. The left always incorrectly assumed it was about a cult of personality, nothing more.

What Trump voters were actually cheering was themselves and their own voice amplified. The belief in the greatness of the United States articulated through Trump. It was a celebration of the daily fight to advance American strength, might, and exceptionalism. It felt good to be advancing the ball for the Stars and Stripes while celebrating the individual American getting ahead.

But that feels like a long time ago. Just ask around. Who’s winning today? It’s not a partisan question. There’s no high-fiving and hashtagging on social media about Joe Biden’s victories. He has none. Even his voters know it. What’s to celebrate? Who’s winning in the last eight months after the election of the “most popular candidate to ever run for president?”

Big government is winning. Teachers unions are winning. The Taliban is winning. Big tech is winning. Establishment party politics is winning. China is winning. Fear of a virus is winning. Inflation is winning. Five people who want to compete in sports as a different gender are winning. Illegal aliens are winning.

Joe and Jane Q. Taxpayer aren’t winning. They have fast become demoralized, defeated, dispirited, and depressed.

I boarded a plane last weekend as the news was breaking about the fall of Afghanistan. As I waited in the hundred yard-long security line, I considered we were approaching the twenty-year mark of the conflict. Twenty years since 9/11/01. Twenty years of our men and women losing limbs, fighting and dying. I wondered what it was all for now.

As I pulled out my government issued ID required to board a plane – an ID Democrats find oppressive and racist when required for voting - I reflected on our open borders as well as corporate America and our Department of Justice bullying states that simply want to strengthen their own election integrity laws.

As the TSA agent ordered me to pull my required mask down off my face so she could match my face to my picture ID, I reflected on Dr. Michael Osterholm, Zeke Emmanuel, and even Dr. Fauci once openly testifying to the futility of masks even though we’re now all required to wear them in federal facilities once again.

Removing my shoes and belt and watch and emptying my pockets to be scanned and groped by a government bureaucrat who insists I keep my mask on while I strip for him and he fondles my crotch, I angrily recalled my interview with Trump national Security Advisor Lt. General Keith Kellogg. I asked if twenty years of this has made us safer to which he admitted it has not. His assessment was most of the TSA strip-and-fondle gauntlet is simply a familiar, taxpayer funded routine not an effective deterrent to terror.

In fact, just before boarding the plane my government issued ID had to come out a second time to match my boarding pass as a new level of security was recently added. Oh, and masks are now to remain on our faces in airports and planes until at least January of 2022, says the government.

When I landed I called an Uber to take me home from the airport. There was a half-hour wait on a Monday night for a car. The estimated price would be $200. In Pennsylvania like other Democrat-run states, it’s more lucrative to collect unemployment checks from the government than to drive your side hustle these days.

At home four students in my kids’ school district committed suicide in the past year. You know how many died from COVID? Four fewer than took their own lives. Not to speak of plunging academic performance across the board for all students including mine. Still, most districts insist on covering our children’s faces for yet another Fall and threaten more isolation if a virus with 99% survivability is detected at all.

As for the adults, you might have thought you’d do your part to get your shot so you and your family could return to “normal” and be left alone to enjoy the open air, and socialization, shopping, travel, etc. You hoped you could go back to a time you weren’t sizing up your fellow American as to which team they’re on: pro mask or no mask, vaccine or no vaccine.

But now a booster shot is needed to be extra certain you’re “safe.” That is until the next goal post shifts. And we’ve still got a lot of shaming and scaring of our fellow Americans to do to make them comply. Your ability to work, shop, and eat in some places may now depend on your compliance with shot requirements. Once again for a virus 99% of us will weather just fine.

Go out to eat lately? Staffing is short, menu items are missing, and the food costs more. Same at the gas pump and the grocery store. Building, repairing, ordering anything new? Get ready to wait and pay more there, too. Meanwhile big city Democrat mayors salivate at the chance to shut down and regulate businesses all over again to protect us from the “variants” while their streets run red with blood from the relentless, historic violence they refuse to allow police to stop.

Even going to church for many Americans was considered “too risky” most of the last year and congregations were forced to watch worship on You Tube and Zoom rather than commune and gather together as the Bible instructs. And don’t forget voting in person was too risky, too. Just mail in your ballot! (wink)

Protesting at our nation’s capital or protesting anywhere for that matter wasn’t just risky. It was a "violent insurrection," you know? The National Guard and steel gates were erected. You were branded a domestic terrorist if you so much as raised an eyebrow at the new, elderly sheriff in town.

All the while the liberal elite party in their Martha’s Vineyard homes, and host star-studded celebrity gatherings, fly private, carbon-belching jets, and dance the nights away unmasked without a care in the world. Almost as if they’re celebrating something. They’re not tired at all.

Could the left be celebrating how very damaged the American psyche has become? It’s more than politics. We’re now dealing with a mental state this country isn’t accustomed to feeling and it’s worth asking if it’s on purpose. We’re not just NOT winning; we’re actively losing to an internal, self-imposed enemy. And everyone feels it. The “most popular candidate in history” is already underwater at -18 in the daily tracking polls.

The American people aren’t tired of winning anymore. They’re just tired of being tired. And that might be just the thing that energizes Democrats the most.
