Let’s Be Real: Donald Trump Shouldn’t Be Judged on “First 100 Days”

It’s time for a moment of honesty.

President Donald Trump shouldn’t be measured by the first 100 days like every other politician before him – because he’s not like them and neither are the circumstances surrounding him.

Given the hysteria and hype surrounding his presidency, we should scrap the normal timetable.

He’s nowhere near a typical politician — he’s a businessman, and the media and Democrats waged war against him before he even stepped foot in the Oval Office.

The Left, including top Democratic leadership, have called for impeachment with no evidence to back it up and questioned his legitimacy as president early on: “Not My President,” they shouted and chanted as they marched in the streets. Not to mention the leakers within various departments.

It wasn’t until President Trump’s joint address to Congress on February 28th that many in the media and on the Left finally admitted, “Donald Trump became president today.”

Fair enough. Let’s judge him from that day then. So, let’s give him 140 days.

And I’m not alone here. Most Americans agree that 100 days is “not enough time” to judge President Trump and his administration’s job, according to a new CBS News poll.

Not surprisingly the poll found that 82 percent of Republicans agree, along with 69 percent of independents, with only 37 percent of Democrats.

But the media is all-too-giddy to grade Trump based on this arbitrary mark.

They point to his failure to repeal and replace ObamaCare. Rookie mistake, but there’s still time…

And, honestly, who cares what the media thinks — we all know they’ve been wrong about Trump before. HA!

The CBS News poll found that a majority of Americans believe Trump is having an effect inside the Beltway and is not letting the political culture change him.

The poll found that 54 percent of U.S. adults think Trump is changing Washington, while 30 percent said the district is changing him.

Trump is keeping his campaign promise to “drain the swamp” despite the first 100 days of obstruction.

Trump’s greatest accomplishment so far is easily the nomination of Justice Neil Gorsuch, which will have a lasting impact way beyond the Trump years.

After that, it really depends on your politics.

Trump has assembled a conservative dream cabinet – from UN Ambassador Nikki Haley to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, but unlike Obama, Trump’s opposition has delayed and delayed on confirming them.

On the world stage, Trump has shown that America wants to work with our allies, but we’re going to put American interests first.

While meeting with China’s leader, Trump ordered the airstrike on Syria that sent a clear message to the world. We mean business.

Despite Democrats’ best attempts, Trump has shown he’s not a shill for the Kremlin or Vladimir Putin, but rather is looking for anyone to work with America for our best interests.

Trump and his administration are finally doing something about North Korea, and we are close to Israel again.

But ultimately, Americans care more about safety and prosperity at home than abroad.

We’ve seen records smashed in the stock market as Trump rolled back the massive Obama regulations and executive orders that stifled American workers and businesses.

Although the wall hasn’t been built yet with Mexico’s money (or El Chapo’s), we have seen a drop in illegal border crossings.

Martin Luther King, Jr.’s niece, Dr. Alveda King, joined with Father Frank Pavone in saying, “Trump’s first 100 days are the best pro-life 100 days ever.”

They continued, “no president has accomplished more for the Culture of Life at the beginning of his term than has Trump.”

Not bad, considering many were questioning during the campaign whether he was actually pro-life or not.

If you thought Donald Trump just cared about what people think of him, you might be wrong. He’s governed according to his campaign promises.

So, let’s talk again at the 140-day mark and see where the Trump administration has taken us.
