Low Octane Gas LightingMS NOW

  • After all of this time, we are still doing this…???

It used to be a regular feature in the press, so much so that it devolved into a punchline. Anytime a dire (in the opinion of the press) news item on immigration would come up, some would-be cerebral pundit or reporter would reference the placard at the base of the Statue of Liberty as a means of disputing the harsh immigration stance being witnessed. After a time, the wizards in the press dropped this reference, as they learned that, as they felt like they had delivered a striking blow, it instead became a rake-stepping dose of mockery for them.

With that reality established, it is borderline remarkable to see Nicolle Wallace lapsing into this trope, as she tries to insist that a poem is actually our political policy.

Newseum Art Installation – POLITICO

  • The lack of any pride seems baked into that party.

The content, the sentiment, and the photo just deliver layers of artistry here.

Pre-Written Field Reports – WASHINGTON POST

  • Do you realize that this position exonerates Trump from responsibility???

Honestly, we are surprised it took this long for this narrative to surface; we figured this would have been sitting in the hopper, set to be sprung immediately.

Writing on the algae bloom effects at the Reflecting Pool, Sarah Kaplan has hit upon what we figured would have been the cited cause from jump-street.

  •  But [President Trump] has seemingly overlooked two of the most important factors that experts say are driving unsightly — and sometimes dangerous — profusions of algae: pollution and climate change.

Matching Media Memorandum – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • They miss out on how infantilizing this all becomes.

Ah, Trump Derangement – it is tough to pin down the most enjoyable aspects. Is it the way it leads to contradicting oneself, when Trump backs an issue you previously supported? Is it the emotional fervor leading to crackpot theories, or is it the reactionary behavior that blocks out the ability to realize how daft one sounds?

For the latest, we have several outlets coming out with reports on what they perceive to be the latest hit on the president: His reelection has led to a drop in the naming of newborns “Donald”.

Notus reports that since 2018, the name has been in an “unabated free fall for the next eight years.” Yahoo, The Independent, and others got in on this vital news. At The Mirror, they claim that Trump is “humiliated” by this development.

Taking things to the extreme is (no surprise) Lawrence O’Donnell. Not at all shying away from the embarrassment of treating this as a news item, Larry took things to an all-new, surreal level. As he tried to pass off the hysteria with some self-deprecation, after saying more babies were newly named Lawrence (“a name I would not wish on anyone!”), the host then could not contain himself, and he lurched right into the typically unhinged realm of comparatives.

  • “Adolf dropped rather dramatically in popularity after Adolf Hitler executed six million Jewish people in death camps while he was losing World War II before he took his own life.”

Reporting On The Mirror – MS NOW

  • This was a quick decision…

The former MSNBC network shifted to its latest incarnation last November. And just a few months ago MS NOW made some major revisions to its schedule, with hosts shuffled around the daytime lineup and new programming developed for Saturdays and Sundays. Now comes the announcement that cuts are already announced to some of these new iterations.

“The Weekend Primetime” is being removed from its three-hour block, to make room for content from outside, with podcast slots dedicated to Crooked Media. Also getting the axe is “Alex Witt Reports”, which opens up hours in the weekend afternoons. From “The Weekend”, Antonia Hylton will take over afternoons, while her co-hosts Elise Jordan, Ayman Mohyeldin, and Catherine Rampell will be held in a form of limbo for now.

Witt has announced that later this summer she will be leaving the network entirely.

Race To The Bottom – THE ATLANTIC

  • Wanting to avoid being throat-punched is “special treatment”.

Jemele Hill is nothing if not dependable. She can be counted on to be racially reactionary, and also most of the time at being wrong. For the latest, Jemele weighs in on the news of Caitlin Clark being seen having a player delivering a fist to her throat during a game

She took issue with Boomer Esiason suggesting that Caitlin Clark would be wise to take the basketball game to Europe, where she would both be respected better and paid more. Jemele was, as expected, off base.

To help here, Jammy – what he is saying is that she is being targeted in the WNBA for being straight and white. Hope that helps.
