Both Kinds of Standards – ASSOCIATED PRESS
Sooooo…you are not beholden to your own standards?!
In a truly perplexing argument in court, lawyers for the Associated Press are arguing that the outlet should not be held to the standards and definitions spelled out in…the AP Stylebook.
In the defamation case, lawyers for military veteran Zachary Young say the AP was wrong to describe his business of exfiltration efforts as “human smuggling,” a definition declaring illegal activity. His team noted that this was the case based on the AP Stylebook outlining that the term is for illegal acts.
Lawyers for the news syndicate have actually made the argument that the term did not necessarily apply to this particular report on Young, despite the use of that term dozens of times in other reports, both before and after its coverage on Young. Simply amazing and desperate contortions.

News Avoidance Syndrome – THE NEW YORK TIMES
Where are the Platner supporters now?!
When The New York Times came out with its report on Graham Platner and his past troubles with a number of relationships, the featured player in that exposé was Lyndsey Fifield. Hers was the most damning of testimonies, and she was also scorched by many on the Left for being an active conservative in D.C. Also brought up was some of her claims being unverified, which brought her more scorn.
After the article came out, Fifield said many of her comments and pieces of corroborating evidence were disregarded by The Times. Now she has sat in with The Free Press to give a fuller dose of background and clarify her positions. Notable too is TFP said it spoke with others who corroborate what Fifield went through at the time.
You have to appreciate this explanation from The New York Times about its coverage of Fifield. Note the last four words:
A spokesperson for The New York Times said the story “accurately presents each of these accounts as told to our reporters and according to our standards.”
Lyndsey Fifield told ‘The New York Times’ Graham Platner emotionally abused her and became physical multiple times. So why is she under attack? Frannie Block and Audrey Fahlberg report. https://t.co/h6pxx65GHd

Democratic Custodial Services – NBC NEWS / TODAY SHOW
You have to savor how they try to make this sound like a minimal story few have heard of.
On Today, they covered the Platner win in the primary election, and the description of his biggest problem is humorously pathetic.
In describing some of the issues, the best here was the line that he is accused of having, “a tattoo some say resembles a Nazi symbol.”
“Some say” is bad enough, but pretending the Totenkopf skull has not been confirmed is simply sad and desperate.
Tuesday's 'Today' marked only the second time a morning or evening NBC newscast mentioned Graham Platner since last week's The New York Times article about Lyndsey Fifield.

Joe, wipe the drool from your lips.
After Graham Platner won his largely uncontested primary, Morning Joe had him on to spike the football and launch his new campaign against Susan Collins.
Scar-Joe was at his obsequious best, all intending to get Platner down the runway. He dismissed the mounting list of problems with this guy as “so-called scandals” and then tried shielding him from future issues by dredging up the claim he suffers from PTSD. This was pure shameless servile pandering.

Gilded Reframe – VARIOUS OUTLETS
Interesting that the claims of bias are not heard regarding this named individual.
As the CBS News drama continues, the latest development has surrounded whether or not Bari Weiss is going to be assigned a “handler” by Paramount executives, and also whether or not she will be overseeing CNN, once the merger is completed.
Axios has come out with a report that it has obtained a list of possible names who could be tabbed to oversee CNN. One of those listed as a prospect is Ben Sherwood. He is the CEO of the blatantly leftist outlet The Daily Beast.
Considering we have endured perpetual wailing from those in the press about Weiss taking the network to the Right (and Sherwood’s own site declaring CBS is MAGA-influenced), we do not see any hand-wringing or pearl-clutching over the possibility of CNN being pulled to the extreme Left.

So no curiosity that there could have been more reasons behind that decision?
The news that a referee from Somalia was denied access into the country to work the World Cup had many lunging for their keyboards to say the decision was due to racism and/or President Trump’s crude immigration policies.

Apparently, many believe that the immigration bans set up to keep out undesirables should be waived for soccer-related instances. Moving aside this ref could have been assigned to the games played in Canada or Mexico, it took Bill Melugin to actually reach out to immigration authorities and learn this individual tried to come in with improper documentation and was found to have connections to terror groups, the very type of people cited for denial of entry into our country.
