Reporting on the Mirror – CBS NEWS

  • Need to get a good microphone on discount?

News started to come out on Thursday that CBS News was poised for another round of layoffs, as restructuring is taking place with the Skydance Media-Paramount merger underway.

But Friday morning saw some jarring updates as the announcement was made that CBS News Radio was shutting down completely, after more than 100 years. As of May, the entire operation will cease, as Bari Weiss has said that the entire division was obsolete, and there was no profits whatsoever to be realized from radio.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – REUTERS

  • This is looking at the gas tank being half full.

When it comes to the Iran crisis and, in particular, the as of now shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz, many countries are suffering through a spike in gasoline prices and taking an economic hit. However, the drop in the availability of crude may not be entirely bad news.

According to Reuters, there is something to celebrate in this current crisis: This could be just the thing to push everyone onto alternative fuel and green energy sources!

DNC PR FIRM – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • Trying to make “Fetch happen” in Florida.

There has been an inverse amount of media interest in a candidate in the Florida gubernatorial race compared to the rampant apathy seen from the voters. James Fishback has been a controversial — and by many measurements inept — candidate who has little in the way of popularity. Or in the way of a chance in the election. That has not been because of a lack of media interest.

While polling shows Byron Donalds with a massive lead for the Republican primary, the press have been constantly covering Fishback, trying desperately to make him a factor. Almost every article on the guy states he has nearly no shot, yet they then go on with lengthy profiles, attempting to have his controversial, racist, and anti-semitic positions become normalized and then applied to the Republican Party.

They attempt this while Fishback polls at the same level as the margins of error, and while the POC candidate Donalds has overwhelming support across the state. They are also trying to make this stick to the GOP, when at the same time, excuses and permissiveness are playing out with Graham Platner in Maine, the man with the Nazi tattoo and the white supremacist history.

Legalized Press-titution – CNN

  • This kind of story could NOT be filed as a radio report.

Among those covering the James Fishback campaign was CNN’s extremism correspondent, Donie O’Sullivan. Of particular interest for Donie was one of Fishback’s policy proposals; specifically, the interest was in who is most affected by this platform.

Fishback has one campaign promise that he wants to implement, which is to impose a 50 percent tax on the earnings brought in by OnlyFans accounts. This has concerned O’Sullivan to the extent that he was compelled to interview a number of the nubile women who would be impacted by this sin tax.

Race to the Bottom – WASHINGTON POST

  • Are we to a point where owning slaves no longer means erasure of the Founders?

With the nation’s 250th Anniversary building up, there are more celebrations and commemorations taking place on the regular. In one instance, setting up historical statues for the occasion is taking place, but one such selection has bothered the sensitivities of some at the Washington Post.

One Founder being commemorated is Caesar Rodney, who cast the deciding vote in the Delaware delegation to pass the Declaration of Independence. His century-old statue had been removed from the state grounds during the George Floyd riots, but it has been brought back out and brought to D.C. for this summer’s celebrations.

WaPo is bothered because this statue was removed based on the fact that Rodney was a slave owner. That supposedly cancels out any and all historical significance the man possessed.

BlueAnon – CNN

  • Like the team scoring a lone field goal in a blowout game being declared the moral victor.

As Operation Epic Fury has only been enacted in Iran for less than three weeks, the success rate has been remarkable. That country’s leadership is mostly eliminated, its missile capability is estimated to be reduced by 97 percent, and its navy has to be considered a “sunk-tilla.” Meanwhile, U.S. and Israeli forces have barely encountered a scratch or a dent. Yet the press continues trying to sell this as a mission failure.

For the latest, there is a CNN report that one of our F-35 fighter jets encountered some resistance. It was not shot down, but it took on some form of damage mid-flight and was forced to make an unplanned landing. The pilot was not injured. But in listening to CNN, this was tantamount to Iran dominating us in this theater, according to hostess Pamela Brown:

The Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, was on earlier today, and he held a joint press conference and said that the air defenses in Iran have been ‘flattened.’

Correspondent Haley Britzky then expounded on this thought:

That's right. I mean, Secretary Hegseth has come out repeatedly over the last several, couple of weeks at these press briefings claiming very decisive victory. We, of course, still don't know exactly what happened here and what hit this aircraft, but it does raise questions about the effectiveness of these strikes.
