Pre-Written Field Reports – CBS NEWS
It is possible Maggie was reading from an NPR prepared statement.
On “Face the Nation,” Margaret Brennan brought on Rand Paul, and as she turned to the topic of funding public broadcasters, she spouted off a tired and regurgitated talking point, that being that NPR is needed in areas that incur a disaster, as it saves lives.

Flood warnings are not as vital as their warnings about becoming defunded!
At NewsBusters, they have shown that claims of needed emergency notification are a hollow boast when they showed how the NPR station in the flash flood areas of Texas reacted to the warnings put out in that region. It took 19 hours for TPR to make a notification, and yet in the time following the flood warnings, the station was promoting the need to retain the federal funding for the station.
Amazingly, they touted how emergency notification was one of the important services they provide – all while decidedly NOT providing it.
🚨NPR is lying when it claims to need your tax dollars to provide vital news and emergency alerts.

While Texas was flooding, NPR’s Texas station was lobbying Congress for $1.1 billion, taking 19 hours to post about the floods on social media. 🧵https://t.co/wkU99dK9Ew
Stealth Story Evolution – MSNBC
They saw the CNN segment promoting the ICE raids notification app, and raised the stakes.
This weekend, Ali Velshi brought on prosecutor Joyce Vance to discuss the concept of being confronted by ICE agents and justifying the act of battling back during raids. The justification they give is that usually nobody is aware of who it is arriving, and that it can be declared they are random, anonymous individuals, so fighting back is permitted:
You know what I’ve never seen a federal agent working a case do is pull a mask up so nobody knows who they are and go out and terrorize a civilian population. And I think it’s important for us at this point to be very plain-speaking when we say that this is not normal, it’s not acceptable, and it’s a danger sign. When you’re masked like that and people don’t know who you are, someone might exercise their lawful right of self-defense to protect themselves, thinking they’re being kidnapped. So the notion that this is for law enforcement’s protection is utterly ludicrous.
To swallow this canard we need to ignore that the agents conducting these raids have their agency logo displayed prominently on their gear with badges displayed, but sure, Joyce — encourage people to put themselves at risk with “lawful” attacking taking place.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – Public Broadcasting Service
We are sorry, but are you not the very same people advising against the dangers of misinformation and fake news?!
This is what it looks like when you are so used to never receiving pushback or challenges on your daft conclusions. Jonathan Capehart was back at his trademarked wing-nut proclamations when he was addressing the topic of covering the mental conditions of the presidents.
Now what has Johnny-C bothered is that President Trump is not receiving the same amount of attention over his mental state as Joe Biden absorbed before he was evicted from the ticket by the powers in his party. Capehart is tripped up here by a very important distinction; that being the reactions to the mental acuity on social media, and by the “professional” media. What Mr. Capehart is essentially suggesting is that they lie about Trump's condition, out of a sense of fairness...at least we think he is trending in that direction?
His impacted explanation gets exposed by one word he uses: WE. To explain it to Jonathan using crayons – by saying “we” you are referring to the press, which actually worked hard to NOT comment on Biden’s condition and to attack those who did comment on it. So, in effect, YOU are covering Trump’s condition in the same way – by not saying anything at all.
PBS’ Jonathan Capehart: Why are we not talking about Trump’s mental acuity like we would if he was Biden?

Newseum Art Installation – THE NEW YORK TIMES
The problem here is in pretending that you all were actually missed.
After years of guiding holiday political discussions with your MAGA uncle and suggesting liberals cut the Republicans in their family out of gatherings, this editorial wonders if it is time to bring this division to an end.
Allow us to join the chorus and say, “Nope, too soon.”
We received a new work from artist @DavidLitt for our upcoming ''Editorial Wing''.

Pulitzer Prize Nomination – THE NEW YORKER
They got this completely correct, but for the wrong reasons.
The magazine has as its cover story the “huge,” “breaking,” “deeply trenchant” report that in Canada the population is turning against America. The outlet does not seem to understand that their need to alert us to this reality should have been a sign that it is not all that impactful.
The best is that right there on the cover they provided the very evidence that they seem to miss at the same time: “You have no idea how furious Canadians are!” Uh-huh, because it is not a concern for us here in the States. We will offer a bit of a change to one assessment they made at The New Yorker.
