Low-Octane Gaslighting – THE HILL

  • Now, just curious, is there anything else possibly happening that day?

Over at The Hill, they deliver this headline that carries all of the comparisons of Donald Trump to leaders of fascist regimes who love to stage military hardware parades through their capitals.

Man, this certainly solidifies all of those promises of Trump being an authoritarian dictator who will stage a crude, jingoistic propaganda event displaying our wartime might! But then, we start to get a few other details in the article that seem slightly significant, to the point of completely altering the reality of this headline:

It will also mark the Army’s 250th anniversary. A senior administration official confirmed the plans to NewsNation. An Army official confirmed the parade’s length to The Hill, and said that “there are plans for a parade that will involve the Army.”

Huh. That sounds almost as if there is a completely different motivation for staging this parade in the nation’s capital. And then we come to learn an even more revealing nugget of information. This has been in the works before Donald Trump was elected:

“Planning began last year and the event has since expanded, with the number of units participating now increased. It’s too early to say yet whether or not we’re having a parade but we’re working with the White House as well as several government agencies to make the celebration a national level event,” Army spokesperson Col. Dave Butler told The Hill.

Race to the Bottom – MSNBC

  • The amount of apathy this generates is so high we do not care how much it is.

For roughly a majority of the country, we have moved on from Kamala Harris. She has entered footnote status, and for no known reason, her running mate is touring the country right now pretending he is campaigning for the 2028 election. (Note to Coach Walz: Your own party is not all that interested.)

Yet, over at MSNBC, they are clearly not over the Harris defeat, as seen on “Deadline: White House.” Hostess Nicolle Wallace had on Eddie Glaude and he brought up the now wholly dismissed trope that America elected Trump because tens of millions of people have a roiling pathological racism in their hearts.

It really is amusing to see leftists refusing to relinquish even the slightest grasp on their entrenched talking points to this level.

News Avoidance Syndrome – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • The balanced delivery of the facts arrives in rather imbalanced quantities based on the results.

Consider how for at least a month now we have been pummeled with continuous reports on judges delivering rulings on the Trump administration immigration policies. Headlines bray about the orders, the announcements from the benches are energetically reported, the pundits go into primetime overdrive with deep analysis, and every possible negative result on our democracy is boldly promised.

Then on Monday, the Supreme Court sent down two rulings saying the administration was in the right with their actions…and beyond some token reporting, you have seen no equal amount of coverage, analysis, or praise for the White House acting correctly. Almost seems like the press is behaving in activist fashion.

Gilded Reframe – POLITICO

  • It appears that if they do not like the ruling, the press can demote a justice.

One of the few outlets to cover these SCOTUS results was Politico, but did so in a rather reductive fashion. When these activist judges rule from the bench in a fashion the press delights in they are lionized and described in warm fashion. We are given their name, hear of their district, and may even get some complimentary career achievements.

But when a ruling comes in they do not like, you can basically insult the source. When a recent deadline for the administration to return a “wrongly” deported individual was erased, we get told this decision was made by “a judge.”

It so happens that the ruling was made by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts, but you did not need to know all of that, since Politico did not agree with the decision.

Presentation Paradox – CNN

  • Once again, Harry Enten endangers his own job by displaying contradictory data to his network’s narrative.

Hey now, speaking of President Trump being a complete authoritarian ruling the country in oppressive monomaniacal fashion, according to the regular dispatches seen from CNN, there is a slight problem in that claim. As the ever contrarian Harry Enten shows us, this talking point has yet to become entrenched in the mind of the general public. (Well now, this has been the media narrative for only a year and half, let’s give it some time to become digested by the gentry.)

Enten comes up with a poll that displays how more than half of Americans believe President Trump has just enough power, or even not enough.

Any time now we may come to learn Enten has been forced into a two-week vacation, and he might be subjected to conversion therapy for a portion of that compulsory sabbatical.
