Matching Media Memorandum – VARIOUS OUTLETS
They make this sound like it is really, very, extremely, super, extra important news.
I hope anyone reading is seated in a safe location without fear of collapse because it saddens me to share what is obviously grave news.
A professor of philosophy at Yale University is moving to Canada.
I feel the need to deliver what must be a vital news development. I say this based on the fact that numerous news outlets have given air time to Jason Stanley because he has announced that he is moving his family across the border to teach in Toronto. He says this is a result of Trump’s policies, and he is convinced this will usher in a totalitarian rule of governance.

That he is electing to move to a country with more governmental control and has been clamping down on free expression on a regular basis seems a misguided decision on his part, but we are made to care that a lone elitist is leaving the country…or something…we think…?
Guys, we need to impeach President Trump, immediately. Because of his policies, a Yale professor of philosophy is moving to Canada.

I mean, I personally could not give a toss, but the flood of media coverage on this disaster indicates it is a grave result for the nation!

Low-Octane Gaslighting – PROPUBLICA
For Trump 2.0, they are attempting “Kids In Cages: The Sequel.”
The gang at ProPublica has done a deep investigation into what takes place inside those dire deportation flights. The outlet managed to score interviews with flight attendants working for the airline chartered for these repatriation trips, and they learned some troubling details and uncomfortable policies.
Only problem…they spoke to all of these workers – last year. This means two things:
They are trying to accuse the Trump administration of actions that took place before he took office.
They had this information during the Biden presidency and chose not to report on it.
In fact, in this very lengthy report concerning actions over the previous four years, you will not find a single mention of Joe Biden’s name, nor references to his administration enforcing any of the policies outlined.

Reporting on the Mirror – VARIOUS OUTLETS
What do you buy for a fact-checker who already knows everything?
Today is International Fact-Checking Day. We report this because, frankly, we had no idea this was something that exists.
We figured we would celebrate with a few choice examples from masters of the craft, such as WaPo’s Glenn Kessler butchering the facts in his corrective attempt on Trump's address to Congress last month, or the time we had to show CNN’s Daniel Dale how to do his job after he claimed Kamala Harris told a solitary mis-truth in the presidential debate last fall.
Talk about a tragic lack of self-awareness

Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – NBC NEWS
We have been told this is such an important issue – so why are you not treating it as important?
Currently, the press have all but forgotten about the alleged Signal scandal and are currently up in arms over yesterday’s big announcement by President Trump about his implementing widespread tariffs globally. We see all manner of hype and hysteria over this, but frankly, we are going to hit the PAUSE button and simply wait to see if the dire economic effects actually take place.
We also have to feel a slight bit of skepticism on the import of it all based on this report from NBC News. They reached out to someone on the matter of tariffs and the way those may impact our economy; they spoke to a retired nurse.
Carey Stewart Cezar tells NBC that she felt dismayed at Trump’s announcement. We are supposed to care because this avowed Kamala Harris supporter is the great-granddaughter of one of the politicians behind the 1930 Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act. So, there you go, this is…possibly going to become bad news economically, based on the word of a retired Democrat in Baltimore.
Her great-grandfather was behind the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act — which many economic historians believe worsened the Great Depression. She thinks Trump’s tariffs are "terrible." https://t.co/1Nx1wpBuAU

Legalized Press-titution – ASSOCIATED PRESS
So, does Hamas have y’all’s fax number, or what?
The Associated Press – which years ago lost office space in Gaza when Israel took down a terrorist position and the AP was actually sharing a building with Hamas leadership – is back to delivering nice, round, convenient death figures. This time, in a new round of Israeli strikes, 100 lives were taken.
This happens because that is how the figures are delivered, from the Gaza Health Ministry, and too many news outlets just regurgitate those claimed figures without any healthy skepticism.
