Pre-written Field Reports – CBS NEWS

  • Well, it is a Trump idea, so it must be a bad idea.

On the nightly news broadcast, they turned to former January 6 obsessive Scott MacFarlane to cover the effort of the Trump administration to designate Mexican drug cartels as terrorist groups. MacFarlane first regarded this as a “potentially powerful though controversial tool.” Oooh, we’d hate to cast those cartels in a negative light, after all.

He then went on with his misplaced sympathy by turning to a lawyer from the leftist group The Brennan Center, and in developing more resistance to this move he asks, “Doesn’t this provocative designation make it harder for Mexico to want to help?”

But in order to get to this point, Scott had to walk over the opening portion of his segment, where he was at the headquarters of the DEA where it had a mass of photos on a wall of victims of fentanyl, a portion of the 100,000 suspected to have died from the drug. But calling the pushers of this deadly scourge “terrorists” is a step too far, according to MacFarlane.

DNC PR Firm – POLITICO

  • This is really some pathetic wishcasting.

For weeks now, it has been a punchline to see reports of California Governor Gavin Newsom starting up a podcast in what is a transparent attempt to appear a bit more moderate in his bid to position himself for the 2028 presidential race. He has brought on conservative figures, taken positions on topics in defiance of the Democrats in general, and looks rather desperate in trying to make people forget his extremist policies.

It has been a comical display. Oh, wait – sorry, what is happening is that the entirety of the Republican Party is petrified by this effort. Yep, all that laughter is hiding an internal fear…of a podcast.

News Avoidance Syndrome – THE DISNEY COMPANY

  • Sticking with that losing formula is certainly a bold move.

The years of Disney failing with decidedly woke activist content in its entertainment have been covered rather well by us at Townhall Media. And yet, even while facing an assured financial disaster with its reworking of the classic “Snow White,” the executives are holding firm in the corporate position of pushing this type of flawed content.

Despite routine failures of this nature, and balanced against their decidedly unwoke movies like “Inside Out 2,” “Deadpool 3,” and “Moana 2” becoming monster hits, Disney shareholders voted to retain its allegiance to DEI corporate policies.

Anti-Social Media – BOSTON GLOBE

  • Meh, those gals had a long enough go at it, time to pull the plug.

The Democrats have insisted on taking the daft position that women need to suck it up and accept biological males in their athletics and bathrooms. After generations of claiming to be on the side of women’s rights, the party has made the sharp turn of wanting to have a male incursion into female realms. Despite public opinion clearly on the side of preserving the sanctity of female sports, the Democrats voted unanimously against the recent bill in Congress to protect women and girls' athletics.

Possibly recognizing this political pratfall, in an op-ed, the Boston Globe has come up with a novel solution to remove the controversy – just remove gender designations in sports in general. And POOF, the problem for Democrats goes away!

Prose & Contradiction – CBS NEWS

  • They are a tower of strength standing on quicksand.

Well of COURSE this came from Margaret Brennan. Citing an Associated Press report, Brennan rose up to defend her network’s vaunted news magazine “60 Minutes” in the shadow of a lawsuit from President Donald Trump over the infamous editing of the Kamala Harris interview during the presidential campaign.

While her support is expected, it is the claim that the producers are steely in their opposition, given one detail in the introductory sentence. The show may be persistent in its opposition to Trump but we're told “CBS corporate leaders ponder settling” the $20 billion lawsuit.

Matching Media Memorandum – CNN

  • Eventually, one of these White House tiffs is going to be proven.

Basically from the first day of Trump’s new term, the press corps has been intent on finding or fostering some level of discord within the administration. They have tried to work on Trump’s ego and claim Elon Musk is the true leader or played Musk against others in a perceived power struggle. That nothing has ever come of these claims has not deterred the press from working on generating discord in the ranks.

Now, CNN rides in with the latest lame attempt, suggesting that Marco Rubio has been subjugated in his role as Secretary of State because Steve Witkoff, the Special Envoy to the Middle East, has overshadowed him, and Rubio has had waning influence with President Trump. This is all based on – of course – word from “people familiar with the State Department.”

Rubio shot this story down like a clay pigeon.
