Reporting on the Mirror – CNN
If you see a more disturbing comparison to wildfire tragedies, please let us know.
One would think that a modicum of decency – if not common sense – might creep into the heads of our nation’s journalists regarding the California wildfires, but we still await that evidence. In possibly the worst example yet, CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan is on the scene. Donie looked at the still enraging story for the press of the fact-checkers being sent packing from Facebook, and – he did not compare those useless trolls to the firefighters, and their fact-checking mission the the people who lost everything in the blazes, did he?!
Oh yes, he sure did:
As fire crews scrambled in vain to contain the resulting firestorm, the fact-checking partners, still working for Meta, took on their own fight: trying to slow viral misinformation rapidly spreading around the wildfires. Rumor and speculation about the disaster began to swirl online like glowing embers, before eventually becoming a wild blaze of vast conspiracy theories.
This is absolutely disgraceful behavior, and yet the press will probably be high-fiving O’Sullivan for what they consider a masterwork and not a tasteless mockery of a massive tragedy.

In covering wildfire response, the last thing you want to do is use offensive terminology!
Just to let everyone understand in the face of these disastrous wildfires and the adverse conditions created as a result, the science adherents at the Los Angeles Times are here to address the concerns of those who are pregnant in the face of this crisis – both the women and men who may be with child.

Pre-Written Field Reports – CBS NEWS
Before trotting out this argument, Maggie, let’s check his immigration status first, maybe?
One of the pernicious ways the press tries to wallpaper over the disaster that has been four years of the Biden immigration policy is to ignore the “illegal” aspect of the discussion. Any time the matter of say deportation comes up, the argument from the press is to claim Trump or Republicans are opposed to all immigrants, and as such we are compelled to always remind the wizards in the media that deportations will only apply to those here ILLEGALLY.
In this fashion, Margaret Sullivan was discussing this topic with Newt Gingrich on Sunday, and she hit upon what she felt was a pithy line of questioning; won’t deportations rob us of the next Earth-changing geniuses?
You know, when you look at Einstein and you look at Henry Kissinger, they were refugees to this country. Donald Trump set refugee admissions at very low levels first term. He's talking about block refugee admissions this term. Is that a mistake?
Now, we are not aware of the Einstein and Kissinger arrivals involving them breaking the law and coming into the country illegally, but we may need to brush up on our Wikipedia in order to learn these details that Ms. Brennan apparently has collected.
When asked if it would be a mistake for President-elect Trump to block refugee admissions to the U.S. in his next term, former House Speaker @newtgingrich says there's going to be "some twists and turns" in response to "an extraordinarily disastrous immigration policy." Democratic Custodial Services – MSNBC
Gavin needs some PR rehabilitation – call the network!
Governor Gavin Newsom has been the target of many complaints regarding the unpreparedness of his state for the fires raging, and as a result, he needed to massage his image on the matter. No better place to go then than MSNBC, and they trotted out the compliant Democrat-lover Jacob Soboroff for the job. (Soboroff did such fine work for the party in 2024 that he landed in our Townhall 50 listing of the worst journalists from last year.)
It is a sign of how poorly things are going for the governor that even in a compliant and image-boosting interview he managed to come off looking bad.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – MSNBC
He is spiking the football after getting tackled for a safety, but…go ahead and celebrate, Justin.
More proof that when you are a leftist in need of some PR, the place to turn is MSNBC. Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has had a bad go of it the past few weeks, so he shows up with Jen Psaki in order to tell her audience exactly how things are not. Justin tried to massage the details over what everyone witnessed the past few weeks. To recap – he made the trip to visit Trump at Mar-a-Lago, then Trump came out with a boast about making Canada the 51st state, and then soon after, announced he was stepping down from the leadership of the country.
But after that series of humiliations, there he was with Ms. Psaki trying to exclaim that HE was the one who pulled something over on Trump.
When I started to suggest there could be a trade for Vermont or California, he immediately decided that it was not not that funny anymore.
JUST ANNOUNCED: @jrpsaki will sit down with Canadian Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau for a one-on-one interview following his decision to resign from office.

Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – ABC NEWS
We are not so sure you understand how these things work…
It seems Pete Hegseth, due to face a confirmation vote this week, still has the press hot and bothered. ABC News came out with what we think it felt was a scathing report that the FBI is ardently looking into Hegseth’s past and interviewing those close to him.
Sources tell the network this is taking place as part of its background check. Which…is…what entails a background check. Also, as someone who has had prior security clearances, it is not a shock that he is enduring this, nor that the report came back with nothing alarming to be found.
The FBI has interviewed multiple individuals about defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth’s personal life as part of its background check investigation, sources say. https://t.co/lsogmeUrAF

Reporting on the Mirror – (formerly) WASHINGTON POST
Our call to dismiss the lady from future coverage has been vindicated.
The word came out today that Jennifer Rubin has resigned from the Washington Post, seemingly out of protest. The shockwave of this announcement was such that a few people actually noticed. She is undertaking a new role guiding an independent outlet on Substack that sounds like a rehash of The Bulwark, with a collection of disgruntled former conservatives-in-name-only, such as George Conway and John Dean.
