Pre-Written Field Reports – NBC NEWS

  • Uh, Ken? We are pretty sure they have been calling him that for some time already.

The sentencing of Donald Trump took place, and Judge Juan Merchan delivered the sentence of Unconditional Discharge, which means there will be no jail time or punishment leveled against the president-elect. It is a rather pathetic end to a court case that was weaker than watered-down herbal tea, but there is one lingering effect that excited the network journalist Ken Dilanian.

Sure, Ken, enjoy that moral victory, we suppose. He seems to think that today somehow makes the accusation MORE official, but it hardly differs from the way his cohorts in the media have already glommed onto such labels. They just LOVE prefacing Trump’s name with qualifiers like “Felon,” “Four Times indicted…,” “Twice Impeached…,” and any other legal negative they manufactured.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – AXIOS

  • The irony here is they are not operating with reality.

Also supremely upset that the fact-checking censors have been pulled down are Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen, the founders of Axios. They are whining about the Facebook decision and then cite examples of the type of dire things that are spinning around the web without being properly policed and smothered by the approved gatekeepers of The Narrative.

Just for fun, let’s fact-check their bleating about the lack of fact-checkers, because this duo has lied in their piece. On the subject of the grooming gangs issue in Great Britain, they claimed “There's no evidence that the Labour government has intentionally blocked investigations for political reasons.”

Just two days prior, Britain’s Labour Party voted AGAINST investigating.

BlueAnon – MSNBC

  • Sure, the next step from an open social media platform is the extermination of peoples…

The fallout from the Meta announcement that they will do away with fact-checkers on Facebook continues to roil the journalists. This time it is Brandy Zadrozny, the slightly more stable version of Taylor Lorenz on MSNBC. Brandy came on with Stephanie Ruhle to discuss the decision, and to summarize her ranting – it is bad.

First, she claims that conservatives were not being targeted and silenced by fact-checkers. (Fact-Check: False.) Then she goes completely over the horizon by citing a case like the nation of Myanmar, where ongoing genocide has been playing out since 2017. Sooooo…that was due to that country not having its version of Snopes on its version of Facebook?! As those who Brandy adores so much like to say, we are going to need a lot more context for this one.

Artisanally-crafted Narratives – POLITICO

  • Demanding he spend a fortune with our money is a swell approach.

Well, POLITICO has found something Trump is doing to get mad about; he won’t be soaking the taxpayers in a couple of weeks. With his inauguration all set to go, POLITICO is here to deliver the dastardly news that he will not be taking any federal money for the event, as it will be entirely privately funded. This, of course, delivers grave warnings of corruption and influence peddling, as if spending government funds would not carry any of the same threats. The outlet calling this a “troubling precedent” is a nice hyperbolic touch.

Legalized Press-titution – ASSOCIATED PRESS

  • Are you getting paid by the word or by the hyperbole?

While not citing the California wildfires, the AP’s Nick Riccardi came out with a post declaring that last year, 2024, was the warmest year for Earth. Not just in recorded measurements, or even in the lifetime of mankind; it was the hottest year EVER for the planet.

It is at times like this when we feel the need to remind others — and Nick — that the news syndicate he works for has admitted that it is paid by activist groups to post climate change news.

Back in the old days, that was referred to as “propaganda” – and back in those same days, the press was promising that we were all going to suffer as the planet was going to be plunged into an ice age and we had to deal with global freezing.

Prose & Contradiction – THE MIRROR

  • Yeah, pretty shameful when THEY have a typo, huh?

The Mirror had some fun at the expense of The Miss America Pageant. During one portion of the competition, it had the contestants seated for a question session, and on the display behind them, the topic of censorship was displayed but misspelled as “CENCORSHIP.”

Yet, in its somewhat snarky reporting on the incident, the paper itself fell prey to the very thing it was mocking:

As a backdrop, white and black text crossed the screen. However, it didn't quite meet the mark. Rather than "censorship," the background said "cencorship" as a clear misspelling of the world [sic].

Maybe its editors served as judges at the pageant?
