Legalized Press-titution – VARIOUS MEDIA

  • Let the indictment hype begin!

Once again we have to contend with an on-rush of hyperactive coverage surrounding a Donald Trump indictment. After shaming themselves months ago, the press was back with their LIVE AND DEVELOPING coverage of a Trump motorcade leaving his compound, and ON THE SCENE reports of his airplane landing in Miami.

What makes all of this even dumber is that CNN's media guru Oliver Darcy, who normally might deride such over-the-top behavior, took a more even-handed approach to the mayhem – largely because his network was at the forefront of the hysteria:

Television news outlets were already in special coverage on Monday, offering live rolling images as Trump made his way from New Jersey to Florida, complete with overhead helicopter shots showing his motorcade navigating to the airport and his plane touching down in Miami.

CNN offered special programming throughout the day. Led by its top anchors and featuring insights from its most prominent analysts, the network previewed the unprecedented events that are set to unfold over the next 24 hours in the Sunshine State. Other outlets set the stage in their own ways.

Reporting on the Mirror – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • Remove the press from the equation and this would barely rate as a gathering.

Much like we saw in New York during the Bragg indictment, all of the promises of hordes of violent Trump supporters were completely overblown. While Miami at least did deliver more supporters in attendance (thank the dedicated Cuban-American contingent), what it all comes down to is that the press made up most of this crowd, and if they were not around, the motivation for people to arrive would also be diminished.

Both Kinds of Standards – NEW YORK POST

  • You make this sound like it is wrong, Margaret.

Trump managed to make one cagey move today when, following his court appearance, he made a campaign stop at a famed Cuban eatery. This allowed him to get his version of events to the public. Since no cameras were permitted in the courtroom, the press scrambled to cover him just to have some footage and content – doing his bidding in the process.

One person who bristled at this move was Maggie Haberman.

The precious aspect of this is Maggie trying to pretend the authorities have not also been attempting to have Trump declared guilty in the public court. The leaks, revelations, and official releases of items have been made to manipulate the press into branding Trump as guilty for years. Just note how we have seen and heard little of the documents President Jose Biden was in possession of, yet we have all seen the photos and read the details of Trump’s document errors.

News Avoidance Syndrome – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • The practice of selective headline writing regarding the narrative.

There was another spate of bomb threats called into a variety of Target stores over the weekend. It was the work of someone who, through a series of emails, stated they were lashing out because the store chain caved to pressure and removed or relocated its Pride clothing displays.

The press consistently touted the threats to the stores were due to the Pride controversy, but almost all of them hid the detail of an LGBT𝜋 being responsible deep in the articles. Look over how this differed from the coverage of last week’s parental protest against a school board in Glendale, California. In those instances, the conflict – instigated by Antifa on the scene – was called anti-gay violence or similar right at the top of the pieces.

Presentation Paradox – VARIOUS MEDIA

  • Not all nefarious billionaire threats are created equal.

Recall when Elon Musk was buying Twitter and we saw a collective meltdown in the press about how it was unthinkable that a billionaire was able to buy his way to owning a media outlet and inflicting his views on an unsuspecting public? Well, the press seems to have forgotten.

The first sign of idiocy was just how unbothered these faint-heart geldings had been when well over a dozen other billionaires came into possession of various news outlets. This continues as the news that the publisher of the Washington Post, Fred Ryan, has stepped down, and a new head of the paper is sought out.

Leading the search for the Post is Patty Stonesifer. She comes from the board of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. A wealthy execution from a billionaire’s organization (and, by the way, look into what the “M” from MSNBC stands for) is helping another billionaire (Jeff Bezos) find the leader of one of the nation’s leading newspapers – and no one is screeching to the heavens about the threat to journalism independence this poses for our country.

"Riffed from the Headlines" is Townhall's daily VIP feature with coverage on the deeply flawed aspects of journalism in the nation, where Brad Slager looks to bring accountability to the mishaps, malaprops, misdeeds, manipulations, malpractice, and manufactured narratives in mainstream media.
