News Avoidance Syndrome – VARIOUS OUTLETS
Most people remember when a freak snowstorm hit Texas in 2021 and affected its power grid, Ted Cruz took his family down to Cancun, and he was scorched mercilessly over it in the press.
Flash forward two years later when all those identical elements take place, except for two glaring differences, it leads to deafening crickets in the press.
California is hit by a freak storm, many residents are without power and suffering, and a prominent politician skips town with his family – to Mexico. Only this time, it is a Democrat, and it is a governor – Gavin Newsom, who has a far more direct influence on internal state matters. Yet for reasons both curious and obvious, the press has no interest in blasting headlines criticizing Gavin for abandoning his state.

Pete Buttigieg is facing down some of his toughest critics lately. That is not to say he is doing so successfully, but you might not know this based on the glowing reviews he is getting from Michael Stern of USA Today, who is positively rhapsodic over some of the rejoiners we have seen from Secretary Pete.
What makes @PeteButtigieg so brilliant in his public statements is that he gets to the heart of the matter in an immediately understandable way - without without driving around the block six times, like so many other politicians.

To frame this first – Stern is referring to comments made by Buttigieg, who was criticized over his response to the East Palestine train derailment by Tucker Carlson. This concerned the train derailment, by the way. I feel the need to mention that because this was the brilliant comment Pete made, getting to the heart of the matter – on the issue of the train derailment.
- "It's really rich to see some of these folks – the former president, these Fox hosts – who are literally lifelong card-carrying members of the East Coast elite, whose top economic policy priority has always been tax cuts for the wealthy, and who wouldn't know their way around a T.J. Maxx if their life depended on it, to be presenting themselves as if they genuinely care about the forgotten middle of the country. You think Tucker Carlson knows the difference between a T.J. Maxx and a Kohl's?"
Just…brilliance.
Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – MSNBC
- Maybe news outlets lying is only bad on odd-numbered days…?
Quick refresher: Many in the journalism biosphere are pushing the narrative that Fox cannot be called "news" because they lie so often on the air. Just something to hold in mind as you watch this segment on MSNBC, the network the DeSantis team has locked out for lying about the governor blocking the study of slavery.
Michael Beschloss was on with Michael Steele as he talks about Florida having book bans (a lie), brutal tactics (no idea what that means), and that he wants bloggers to register with the state (also not true).
That is quite a lot of deception to cram into one segment, and Beschloss manages to do so within the framework of one sentence.

Stealth Story Evolution – NEWS NATION / THE BLAZE
Bill O'Reilly sat down for an interview with Glenn Beck, and the two got around to discussing the current nature of Fox News. O'Reilly made mention of the fact that the hiring of David Rhodes was going to signify big changes at that network, as he has connections through his brother to the Obama administration.
Small matter – Rhodes was hired for Britain's Sky News. Fox has not owned Sky News for nearly five years.
While the mention of Rhodes is in the transcript offered up by Beck, all mentions of Sky News are not to be found.

As the broader journalism complex has to grapple with the after-effects of the lab leak theory becoming far more accepted as the source of the Covid-19 outbreak, one outlet that cannot frame excuses for not covering that story is CNN.
The New York Post has emails showing that then-CEO Jeff Zucker instructed the network not to run pieces on the lab leak because it was a Donald Trump talking point.

- The red-pilling of Russel Brand is complete as he eviscerates John Heilman of MSNBC.
On "Real Time With Bill Maher," Russel Brand was trying to show "Morning Joe" fixture John Heilman that his own network is just as bad as Fox News in reporting false information.
While Brand resorts to filibustering, it is fun to watch Heilman stammer and bumble while unable to answer back on the examples presented and outright ignoring the details he had to face.
