Funding Our Enemies, and Making "Miss Baghdad"

In Vietnam we first sent in a few hundred military advisers. Then we followed with hundreds of thousands of troops. The outcome, of course, was Miss Saigon.

Now in Iraq we take the opposite approach and send the hundreds of thousands of troops in first followed by a few hundred military advisers. Expectations are that Miss Baghdad will be opening soon on Broadway.

A very confusing position assumed by the Obama administration. However, nothing compares to the quandary faced by a United States soldier who comes in contact with an INSURGENT on the Iraq-Syria border.

According to the Obama-Kerry-Clinton (H)-McCain playbook INSURGENTS who are trying to topple such governments as Kadafi in Libya, Mubarak in Egypt and Assad in Syria should be well armed. They should be given the latest weaponry from helicopters and rocket launchers to both large and small arms. Air support and electronic surveillance should also be included. In short everything necessary to topple the regime. This, of course, is also where another problem arises and that is one of lines or in this instance borders.

Barack Obama has been famous for drawing lines in the sand and then retrenching when those lines are crossed. But the line, border, between Iraq and Syria is there for all to see and not retrenchable, at least for the time being.

Confusion and quandary!

The US soldier meets the INSURGENT on the Syrian side of the Iraq-Syrian border. He acknowledges his US equipment, compliments him on his mission to topple Assad and wishes him Godspeed with a smile and a wave. Of course, the moment our INSURGENT steps over the border into Iraq he becomes no longer the friend but the foe. He is aligned with Isis to topple the current governmental regime. INSURGENTS in one country are good and in another bad. It’s all the same person and totally equipped by the United States.

The quandary for the US soldier: does he shoot the INSURGENT while he is an ally on one side of the border before the INSURGENT can shoot him as an enemy on the other side? Just one step over the border changes everything.

This issue, of course, was never thought out by Obama, Kerry, Clinton(H) or McCain but, of course, they will never be on the border like the US soldiers will be.

Yes, quandary and confusion.

Those damn INSURGENTS and those damn BORDERS.
