The New FBI Investigation Clinton Faces

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

On July 5th, 2016, FBI Director James Comey announced to the world that Hillary Clinton would not face criminal repercussions for her private email server. Many thought Clinton was home-free, ready to race for the White House and declare herself president. Yes, the FBI investigation into her email server was over, but as Ed Klein’s new book, Guilty as Sin, reveals, there is another FBI investigation of Clinton brewing, and it is going to be a lot harder for her to shake this one.

The Associated Press, not exactly a bastion of conservative propaganda, reported in late August that “more than half the people outside the government who met with Hillary Clinton when she was secretary of state gave money—either personally or through companies or groups—to the Clinton Foundation.”

That is not all. The Associated Press also revealed that “at least 85 of 154 people from private interests who met or had phone conversations scheduled with Clinton while she led the State Department donated to her family charity or pledged commitments to its international programs.”

The world was finally wising up to Hillary’s games, and the Associated Press Story lit a fire under the FBI’s ongoing investigation into Clinton’s pay-to-play practices at the State Department.

A retired Justice Department official told Klein, “As soon as he got win of the AP story, Comey called a meeting of his top deputies. He ordered his deputies to redouble their efforts to uncover the link between Hillary and donors to her family foundation. “

Guilty as Sin breaks this investigation wide open as it reveals, “In particular, the FBI is trying to determine if Hillary had a separate and secret schedule of meetings with foreign governments and private industry figures who were making sizable contributions to the foundation.”

Secret, hidden meeting schedules? That sounds like something that might be in an email someone would want to delete. No wonder Comey instructed his deputies to comb through the nearly 15,000 work-related emails that Hillary Clinton initially failed to turn over to the State Department.

It is not illegal to give special access to donors, but it is illegal to use that special access to pad your own pockets and the pockets of your donors, which is what the FBI is investigating in this case. Look at the Canadian businessman who, after donating millions to the Clinton Foundation, was allowed to sell 20 percent of the U.S. uranium capacity to Putin’s Russia. That sounds profitable for him, and the Clinton Foundation.

The FBI is not done with Hillary Clinton, and just like we waited for the results of the email investigation, we will wait for the results of the investigation into her pay-to-play practices. Let us hope that this time Hillary won’t get away red-handed. Ed Klein lays it all out it Guilty as Sin, and the case makes itself. Guilty as Sin is available October 4.
