On one issue, the Left continues losing ground more than any other, despite aggressive media propaganda, academic indoctrination, and institutional hostility: the Gun Rights Movement. don’t say “Second Amendment rights” anymore. Gun rights activists have often corrected me: we do not have “Second Amendment” rights, because the Second Amendment is a proscription on the government not to violate our natural, God-given right to keep and bear arms.
Despite the mass shootings, despite the onslaught of guilt trips and public shaming from our corrupted, though weakened, elites, the fight for the Second Amendment has never looked better.
Even in Florida, where the Parkland shooting forced red flag laws and gun purchase limits in a GOP trifecta state, the legislature has advanced more pro-gun legislation, even finally getting the Sunshine State into the Constitutional Carry club (more on that later).
Twenty-nine states have joined the constitutional carry club, and if North Carolina Republicans can get their act together, the Tar Heel State will join, too. The legislation passed both chambers, but the Democratic governor vetoed it. So far, the state senate has overridden the veto. In the House, Republicans are one vote short of a supermajority, but a few House Democrats have crossed over to assist the GOP with other override votes. The legislation initially passed the House, but thirteen members were absent or abstained. If those thirteen show up and vote, NC will be Constitutional Carry State #30!
At the federal level, Trump 2.0 is firing with all smoking barrels when it comes to gun rights. He has directed the US Attorney for Washington, DC, not to prosecute citizens for gun crimes if they have a right to carry in another state, but are caught carrying a firearm in Washington, DC. He has also taken steps to speed up the permitting process in Washington, DC. Wat once took several weeks, if not months, may only take a couple of days.
Where were other Republicans on this? And,what’s the holdup from the rest of the federal government?

Congress has a golden opportunity—again—to further our natural rights with the National Reciprocity Act.
Where is the bill now? Still awaiting a vote! What gives?!
Reciprocity should not face such delays nor require such legal haggling. The United States Constitution clearly states that full faith and credit for documents issued in one state must be respected in other states. If a citizen possesses a permit to carry from Alabama, why should California or New York have the right to infringe on that right?
Congress needs to direct every state to respect the gun rights of all American citizens. This power and duty fall within the federalism powers of the United States Government, so no one can complain that Congress is overextending its authority. Congress needs to repeal the National Firearms Act (NFA), too, including its onerous regulations and taxes. The Big Beautiful Bill repealed the tax on suppressors and short-barrel rifles, but left the tax in place for machine guns. All of it must go.
Regarding reciprocity, the Supreme Court might beat Congress to this reform. A key case is working its way to the Highest Court. A New Hampshire resident with a CCW in the Granite State was arrested for unlawful carry in heavily gun-controlled Massachusetts (our Founders would be rolling in their grave. Did the British take over Beacon Hill?) Twenty-five state attorneys general have filed briefs supporting the New Hampshire resident that states should be required to recognize gun permits in other states. Based on Bruen, I suspect the court will rule that all states should abide by reciprocity.
A federal district court recently ruled that gun-hating California must process CCW requests from out of state, too! The artificial barriers to concealed carry in blue states is slowly crumbling. Even Hawaii, for all of its rebellious efforts to stop concealed carry, has run into the repeated brick wall of constitutional authority of We the People.
This advance of American gun rights has reached another focal point with the Trump DOJ: Should confused individuals who think they are the opposite sex lose their right to carry? The latest mass shooting, at a Minneapolis Catholic school provoked this thought.
Anyone who thinks that he can change his sex, and that everyone should recognize that delusion, is suffering from mental illness. It is also true that the vast majority of recent mass shootings have been perpetrated by these so-called “Transgenders individuals,” pumped full of destructive chemicals and driven by dangerous thinking.
But the slippery slope of government intervention, especially when it comes to infringement of our rights, is real, and a real threat. I will be the first to say that the country should stop tolerating, let alone celebrating, individuals who insist on pushing a lie about their natural design. But everyone has natural rights, including the right to due process of law before they endure sanctions from the government. Just because someone has mental health issues should not preclude someone from exercising a natural right. Mental health is a complex issue, though, and the state has the duty to commit individuals who are a danger to themselves or to others. I would say that the federal government cannot issue a blanket ban on carrying for any class of individuals, based on their physical or mental condition.
So, what’s really at stake here? I suspect that President Trump is engaging in yet another clever troll. The regressive left wants to defend transgenderism at all costs, but now they have to defend the Second Amendment, too, in order to repel Trump’s suggestions. Once again, a lose-lose for the Left!
Trump should continue expanding the right to carry, and he should lean on Congress to pass the national reciprocity bill as soon as possible. Regarding the transgender gun mess, Trump needs to keep the cultural revolution and restoration strong, that there are two sexes, no one can change one’s sex, and neither government nor citizen should be required to accommodate or accept that lie.
