It is Finished.
Jesus, God made man, born of a virgin, who suffered as we did—without sin—and was crucified under the cowardly consul Pontius Pilate (because he loved Caesar and the world more than the truth) died on the Cross. And on the Third Day, He rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures.
A segment of embittered political dissidents love to chant “Christ is King!” They have taken His glory and turned it into a political slogan to offend those who do not (yet) believe in Him.
Christ is King, but He is much more. He is King of Kings, Lord of Lords. Handel’s Messiah, while eloquent and beautiful, cannot capture in full the grace and wonder of God becoming man, becoming our sacrifice, and becoming our High Priest Forever.
Jesus, the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the propitiation for all the sins of all the world (1 John 2:2)
Resurrection season is upon us once again, and we have so much to celebrate.
Trump got re-elected.
He overcame our corrupted institutions and is dismantling them.
Most importantly, he is making the Christian Faith great again. Watch the White House staff singing “Amazing Grace” for Easter Week 2025. The White House is celebrating how God provides a way for man to be delivered from death to life
Trump invites prayers and praise in the White House.
He welcomes a broad pastoral coalition into the White House.
He is restoring our Judeo-Christian heritage piece by piece, and he is ensuring that that most ancient of landmarks is not removed once again.
Instead of transgenderism, we hear the transforming power of the Gospel restored and renewed in the halls of Congress.
Instead of greed, the Gospel is getting the much-needed restoration and promotion that it deserves.
The country is waking up to righteousness, too, beyond politics.

Across the globe, more people, especially young people, are attending church again. Anti-Christian bigotry is failing.
Bible sales are skyrocketing, as well. The American people and citizens around the world are waking up to the reality that if there is any hope for the future, it depends more on what people believe, whom they are trusting for their eternal security, and how much of their faith they are willing to grow. It’s not the ballot box and the political rallies, but the pews, the congregations, and the church services where Good will prevail against Evil.
The Bible declares: “Awake to Righteousness, and sin not.” (1 Corinthians 15:34)
The world is waking up to righteousness, rejecting the Woke secularism which makes man his own god.
The Gospel accords the gift of righteousness to all who believe in Jesus Christ, that when He died on the Cross, when He shouted “It is Finished!” (John 19:30), He meant it. With His perfect Sacrifice, He paid for all our sins (and the sins of the entire world), and rendered the Law of Moses inoperative to condemn us further (Colossians 3:15).
For the last thirty years, though, the American public has become less awake, and as a result became more “woke.”
Wokeness we can all sense, even if we can’t define it: believing that a sinister force lurks behind every difference and disparity, trusting emotions and yielding to conspiracy theories, wokeness was the state religion under the Biden regime.
Its manifestation came in many shades.
Black Lives Matter clamored for reparations.
Palestinian protesters demand global jihad.
The faux-America First types demand destruction of the Jewish State and elimination of all foreign “races” and histories.
What motivates their blind rage? Bitterness, anger, a sense of grievance mixed with entitlement, and a shuddering sense of futility.
And what is the antidote to this “Wokeness”?
Forgiveness, Grace, and Redemption, i.e. the Gospel, the Good News wrought for us at the Cross, the Cross of Jesus Christ.
Jesus was made sin, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21)
He took all our sins, diseases, hardships and heartaches, unfairness, and injustice, and He has the power to restore all that we have lost.
John’s account of the Crucifixion is powerful, so let’s focus on this passage:
“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” (John 19:30)
Why is the vinegar important? First, it fulfills a prophecy (Psalm 69:21)
It also showcases one of the many wonders of His Finished Work.
He not only paid for our sins, but freed us from the Curse of the Law (Galatians 3:13), and by receiving sour wine, He took the bitterness of this life and its failures.
Consider this condemnation from the Old Testament:
“In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge. But everyone shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge. (Jeremiah 31:29-30)
All of us have been cursed with the sin of Adam (Romans 5:15-17). The prophet then declares that no longer will every man be cursed because of the failures of his father. He will suffer the curse for his own wrongdoing.
But When Jesus took the sour wine, His teeth were set on edge, so that ours do not have to. We don’t even have to suffer an ongoing recompense for our errors, sins, faults, and failures! Jesus paid the price. Jesus pleaded our case. Jesus dropped the charges. Jesus took the bitterness for our sins and those of others. We don’t have to be bitter, because God took our bad, the world’s worst, and made everything better.
“Wokeness” promotes the falsehood that because others have stolen from you, you need to steal it back. Awake to righteousness, and see that Son who sets you free can restore all things!
We no longer have to make others pay for their wrongdoings.
He restores what was stolen from us! (Psalm 69:4) He is Risen. It is Finished!
