It doesn’t get any better than this.

I remember one night rowing along the Charles River. We stopped near the famous Citgo sign that reflected beautifully off of the water. The coach stopped his launch, and taking his cue from a famous beer commercial of the day, said, “Boys, it doesn’t get any better than this.” Two of our kids in the day were big soccer fans. They knew the players, the lineups, the schedules. I told them that living when both Ronaldo and Messi were playing was unique. Sure, there will always be players, but having two incredible talents in the Spanish league is something that one may never see again in his lifetime. I also remember that when Michael Jordan retired from the Bulls, viewership of the NBA dropped. He had been a magnet for the casual viewer who found other things to do when Air Jordan was grounded. The same was true for Tiger Woods in the day—even I would watch golf.

While there are plenty of people who do not like Donald Trump, the fact is that we are living through a unique political age that reflects on the current president of the United States. Closing the border, evening out trade imbalances and fixing car fuel standards are just a few actions taken by Donald Trump that his predecessors would never have undertaken. There are many aspects of Donald Trump that are simply unique, never seen and probably never to be seen again.

  • He is a workaholic. Witnesses say that he does not sleep during long trips on Air Force One.
  • He defers to his cabinet members. When a reporter tried to badmouth Pete Hegseth, the president said that whatever Pete does is okay by him.
  • He looks out for those whom Democrats and their globalist partners ignore. He is working to make farming more profitable. The recipients of the Kennedy Medal honors last week were all successful, but because of their politics, they would never receive recognition for their abilities. Could you see President Obama putting a medal on Sly Stallone’s neck?
  • He puts the media in their place. He is not afraid to insult them or berate them—something no other president in modern times has done.
  • He is a tough negotiator with friends and foes. NATO spending is up solely due to President Trump’s jawboning of spineless European leaders. He got Bibi Netanyahu to return planes loaded with bombs on their way to Iran. He got Bibi to kiss and make up with Qatar.
  • He is not financially dependent on others, so he does what he wants and does not wait for marching orders.

Because Donald Trump is both personally wealthy and not dependent on the largess of others and he now has the decade of experience of being president and being persecuted, he is doing things his own way all of the time. He has sent a third of the US fleet to the Caribbean to be in position to stop the flow of drugs into the country. He has brokered several peace agreements around the world and flew to Alaska in the hopes of getting Putin and Zelensky to agree to stop their meat grinder war. Does every effort pan out? No, but President Trump is not afraid to give it a try. Nobody knew how Israel could get its remaining hostages home. There was no leverage that had any meaning to the psychopaths of Hamas. Then Israel bombed Doha and Donald Trump utilized the changed dynamics to get Hamas to give up the only trump card they still held against total Israeli annihilation. There are some who claim that the terror group is slow-walking the release of the final deceased hostage, as they know that the day after, both Trump and Israel could forcefully disarm Gaza.

Obviously, barring an insurrection or nuclear destruction, there will be future elections. And in January 2029, a new president should be sworn in. But whoever that person may be, he or she will have nothing on Donald Trump. Trump has been the only one to demand fairer trade for American workers. Next month, the Treasury is scheduled to start buying back US debt. All previous presidents added to the massive federal deficit; Donald Trump was the first to think about how to rectify this weight on America’s financial future. But while Donald Trump is working to fix the American economy and make peace between enemies, he still finds time to go to the cockpit of Marine 1 to wish a happy birthday to one of the pilots. And that is the totality of Donald Trump: tackling the biggest problems in the country (drugs, illegal aliens….) and the world (peace) while still playing golf with his granddaughter or stopping his motorcade to thank waiting firemen.

There have been those running backs who seem to carry five or six defensive players on their bodies as they power towards the end zone. Walter Payton, Erick Dickerson, and Earl Campbell come to mind. Donald Trump has taken on the task of repairing the US from years of damage by the Obama/Biden and Soros wings of the Democratic Party. As he works, he has been attacked from every quarter.

  • The Fourth Estate. The press has used every opportunity to dismiss accomplishments like closing the border. It has invented stories against the president (he’s losing a step!), his family, and his associates. It has done its best not to give the president any credit for cheaper gas and eggs. It has ignored the tens of billions of dollars coming in each month in tariff revenue and the strong position of the stock market.
  • The Courts. Virtually every executive order has been met with a national stay from an Obama or Biden-appointed judge. Most of these stays have been thrown out by the Supreme Court, though they did their job, namely, slowing down the president’s popular program.
  • The Congress. Forget the Democrats. The Republicans will not approve his appointments or advance key pieces of legislation, including proposed laws to make elections honest. Many Republicans feel as far away from the president as do Democrats. The Republicans also enjoyed the gravy flowing from USAID to their spouses and friends. Trump—and Musk—were enemies more than any lunatic “Squad” member could ever be.
  • The Permanent Bureaucracy. Faceless bureaucrats in executive offices use their positions to either stymie the president’s program or release information to harm the president’s plans and interests. Laura Loomer recently claimed that someone in the office of the Secretary of the Army is giving the press information in order to hurt the president. How can one control a monstrosity of millions of federal workers? How many Faucis and Lerners does it take to gum up the work of the people?

Most presidents fall into The Who’s “meet the new boss, same as the old boss” bin. Not Donald Trump. Gas and other goods are becoming cheaper. Enlistment in the armed forces is way up, due to the president’s great respect for our fighting men and women and the dynamic leader of the Pentagon whom he selected. The president’s decisive move against Iran’s nuclear facilities stands in stark contrast to President Joe Biden’s willy-nilly exit from Afghanistan and his pathetic warning to Putin and others, “Don’t!” There have been zero border crossings and over two million illegal aliens have either left or been thrown out. National Guard deployments in key blue hellscapes have helped to return normalcy. And when Donald Trump talks about Chicago, Washington or Minnesota, he always says, “The great city of...the great state of…” He doesn’t write the country off as red or blue. He wants to be a successful president for all Americans. Those on the left don’t want him to succeed.
