Seeing that everyone hates the Jews independent of governmental action, Israel actually decided to stick to its guns and do the right thing.

I thought I saw a UPS truck heading towards the Knesset. Apparently it brought the second spine transplant in the country: for the past three days, Israel has ignored some agreement that Hamas claims to accept and instead sticks to its demand for the release of all hostages and a war ending that keeps the IDF deep in Gaza for the next say 10,000 years. Apparently Bibi Netanyahu’s years in the U.S. have rubbed off on him. As Churchill said of his maternal homeland: “America always does the right thing—after she has tried everything else.”

Netanyahu proposed the all hostages/one deal recently. He also tasked the IDF with putting together a program to recapture for the umpteenth time Gaza City. Apparently some bells went off in Doha when Donald Trump effectively wrote that Hamas needs to be destroyed in order to get the hostages home. The mullahs’ little children immediately agreed to terms presented to both sides by Steve Witkoff a couple of months ago. If Washington had been pressing and if Bibi had collapsed again, then Israel would have agreed to 10 barely alive hostages leaving Gaza with 60 days given to Hamas to reorganize. At the time of this writing, Israel is actually holding firm on its hostage demands and actively starting its Gaza City operation. One rule that Israeli leaders always forget is that when Israel holds a position against all complaints, the rest of the world actually takes the leadership seriously.

Israeli leaders have apparently learned that the world will treat the Jewish state the same way independent of any action she takes:

*European arms embargoes

*Australian visa cancellations

*American college students and lefties everywhere demanding the mass murder of all Israelis

*World condemnation of genetically deformed Gazan children as proof of a nonexistent famine.

*Israel = Nazis

*Israelis and Jews harassed wherever they go on any continent.

*Recognition of an ersatz Palestinian state

Whether Israel agrees to some deal with Hamas or not, all of the above will remain true. So apparently as there is no love forthcoming, Israel figured that finally it will do the right thing: pummel Gaza City and not accept any deal that does not allow for the release of the 20 living hostages and the bodies of the 30 murdered abductees. I have always said that if Israel had codified 20 years ago five terrorists for any living hostage, even Hamas would come around to accepting it as immutable. But Israel blows in the wind: we’ll wipe out Hamas but they never get to it. We’ll hold land and then agree to give back the same during ceasefires. No more aid going in until it starts going in by the ton. General of the Army Ulysses S. Grant was one of America’s best fighting generals. Sure, he drank and he also lost many soldiers in mistaken gambits. But people said that his initials U.S. stood for “unconditional surrender”. He fought brutally but when Lee signed the articles of surrender, he was magnanimous. He allowed southern soldiers to go home. When asked, he agreed that they could keep their horses. When his Union soldiers rejoiced, he told them that the “rebels” were now brothers again since the war was over. During war, one should be brutal: no aid, no announcements where fighting will take place, no electricity. After the war, you can get out your Kumbaya dance shoes.

When the Berlin Wall fell, populations on both sides were happy. They were all Germans until they were arbitrarily divided into East and West Germany. The end of their separation in 1989 was a time for rejoicing as the people had far more in common than they differed. With Palestinians and more generally Muslims, a good fence is a good thing to have. There is no condition short of a full national conversion to Islam that would make Israelis or Westerners seem more appealing in the eyes of Muslims who see non-Muslims as eighth-class citizens. We saw what happened when the fence went down around Gaza. There was no rejoicing, only bloodletting and violent kidnapping. Christians separated by arbitrary political ideology welcomed one another when the physical barrier between them was removed. Muslims, as implacable enemies of all things not Islam will never be reliable friends of Jews or Christians. Israel understands this point while Western Europe continues to bring in people who hate the locals, detest their new homes and have stated in a very clear manner that they plan to supplant the local ways and government with strict Sharia law and lifestyle. And like Biblical Lot’s two sons-in-law, the politicians laugh and think that the whole suggestion is ridiculous. Until the victors dig out the guillotine again for renewed use.

The story of the disfigured Gazan children says a great deal about mankind. These kids were sick with no relation to famine or lack of food in Gaza. Certain Gazans and their Jew-hating supporters in the West realized that by photographing these deformed children, they could put forth an “Israel is starving Gaza” mantra. As so many people hate Israel and/or Jews, they lapped up the fake pictures and explanations. The New York Times ran with it. Anything to make those icky Jews and Israelis look bad was fair game. Eventually, after Israel was drawn through the mud again, people began to admit that the sickly children were ill and not because of a lack of food. The goal of making Israel look bad had been accomplished. Now the truth could be allowed to come out.

In a recent article published here I made reference to an accusation against the Clintons. My editor said that there did not seem to be a reliable source for the claim. I did some more checking and we both agreed to drop the claim. As the Clintons are electromagnets for bad behavior, it was not hard to find an alternative story about them to fill in for the one removed. I was grateful that my editor would not settle for half-truths, as the Times and many others willingly did with the famine hoax. “God’s stamp is the truth.” However fragile the truth may be, we must always strive to find it and put it forth.

Palestinians were given Gaza in 2005 and had 20 years to make it into something beautiful. But their hatred of Israel trumped their love of their own future. Instead of making a second Singapore, they built hundreds of kilometers of tunnels and bought endless tons of weapons. The Palestinians do not want a state or peace. Rather, they simply don’t want the Jews to have a state: that is their only goal. Those in the West who support the Gazan terrorists will soon enough learn what the Muslims really think of them.
