Donald Trump’s envoy is reportedly hellbent on saving Hamas and Iran.
After the First Gulf War, the PLO was in real trouble. They had backed Saddam Hussein and by doing so lost all of their Saudi and Gulf funding. Yasir Arafat presided over a broken organization that was in Tunis instead of Jerusalem. Who saved the PLO from bankruptcy and irrelevance? Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres. Through the Oslo Accords, the PLO received international legitimacy, land, weapons, and most importantly, money. The Israeli leadership saved the Palestinian terrorist organization and several thousand dead Jews later, one can conclude that these actions were a disaster.
Donald Trump is ultimately a nice guy. Sure, he can make noise and threats, but deep down, he wants good for others. He said as much during his Gulf visit—namely that he wants good for Iran, for the Palestinians, for the Syrians, etc. There are times in life when one has to be ruthless; great leaders know when they need to destroy their enemy beyond a mere 51 percent victory. Generals Patton and LeMay understood it and pulverized their enemies until they gave up. Donald Trump does not have it in him to crush Iran and Hamas. It’s like a doctor removing a cancer and saying, “What the heck, let’s leave a little of it in there, it’s so cute.” Trump and his people often say that Iran will not have a nuclear bomb; I hate to say that they are not the only ones who have a say on the subject. Oftentimes, the reality of a country—North Korea, Pakistan—having a bomb comes too late and as a big surprise. Iran will get the bomb; the only question will be what happens next.
Neville Chamberlain got a bad rap. Yes, he was foolish to believe “Herr Hitler” and claim, “Peace in our time.” But what is not well-known is that after Churchill replaced him, Chamberlain was Churchill’s right-hand man in taking care of all matters within England. Chamberlain bore no ill-will and by taking care of many internal responsibilities, he freed up his replacement to focus on Nazi Germany and the challenges at hand. He died in late 1940, having served his country well after his enormous failure to stop Hitler’s march.

Whenever I heard Barack Obama or Joe Biden describe the U.S.-Israel relationship as “rock-solid” or “unbreakable,” I knew that Israel was about to get screwed. And sure enough, shortly thereafter, one of them would renege on a weapons shipment or side with the Jew-haters at the U.N. Steve Witkoff reportedly wants to make deals with Hamas and Iran. Hamas is currently on the ropes. The Israel-U.S. humanitarian aid stations are a big hit in Gaza and significantly weaken Hamas’ hold on the population. Hamas cannot bring in new weapons, and when an occasional drone tries to ferry in guns from Egypt, the Israelis shoot it down. Hamas is in trouble and now is the time to finish them off. At the open market “shuk” I received a sticker saying “Finish Them. Am Yisrael Chai (The Jewish People Live).” That is the sentiment. Everyone wants the hostages home, but to prevent the next mass murder of Jews, Hamas needs to be finished off now. But Witkoff reportedly wants an agreement that will keep Hamas relevant and help them hold power in Gaza and the West Bank. He wants the IDF to pull back so as to give Hamas breathing room and the ability to control Gaza again.
As for Iran, they will cheat on any agreement. They will go for the bomb, even if it means that nobody eats and there is no electricity. They see it as the way to destroy Israel and hold an insurance policy. Iran has lots of problems, and the theocracy may be at its weakest point since Barack Obama refused to help those rioting against the mullahs and their sham election. This is the time to put Islamist Iran away and to destroy their nuclear dreams. But President Trump will go likely along with Witkoff to sign an agreement that will allow Iran to enrich uranium away from the prying eyes of international inspectors. The time has come for the IDF to start war-gaming one or multiple nuclear explosions in the greater Tel Aviv area.
I worked with my father in his lab at the University of Illinois. For decades, he had a contract with the U.S. Army’s Chemical Command. It was found that certain compounds could allow mice to withstand intense radiation for some period of time. My dad’s work was to come up with compounds that would allow the officers in the silos 15 minutes to turn the keys and fire Minuteman Missiles back at the Soviets. He would prepare compounds, send them to the Army, and they would tell him which compounds to further investigate and which to drop. The contract was a secret until a full report of it appeared in Popular Mechanics.
There is no question that one nuclear bomb would ruin your whole day. The million degree heat, intense blast and radiation would kill many. But what can be done to a) minimize death and b) begin rebuilding? Would Israel be a viable country? Nagasaki and Hiroshima took decades to become beautiful cities again. What of Tel Aviv? I know that there are those reading these words and wondering why I would even suggest such scenarios or considerations. I do so because I see that President Trump and his man Witkoff do not have the ruthless streak to stop the mullahs cold. Not only will they not do it, but they won’t let Israel do it either. So, Iran will get the bomb, and they will not wait around to use it. No anti-missile system is perfect, so what if the missile with the bomb gets through? Hate to be a party-pooper but if the mullahs won’t be stopped, they will produce a weapon, and then the only question is what happens to real estate prices in Tel Aviv.
There is a time to be magnanimous and there is a time to be ruthless. This is not difficult: “Turn over your nuclear material and centrifuges or face total destruction of your nuclear program.” But where there is no will, there is no way. Maybe the Israelis have already analyzed one or a few nuclear bombs of various destructive power and what comes next. I don’t know as I am not privy to those discussions. I guess the booby prize would be the retaliatory strikes from Israel’s Dolphin submarines. What I do know is that Hamas and Iran are weak, especially with the loss of Hezbollah and Assad in Syria. And as Rabin and Peres are not here, apparently it will be Trump and Witkoff who will save them.
