After fifty years, Saturday Night Live remains as irrelevant as ever.

A popular pattern on X is to post some object from years back and ask who remembers the thing. I am glad that I do not recognize everything people put up from decades back, but I am able to identify many of the toys or other items from the 1960s through 1980s. Like many in my age group, I still remember when Saturday Night Live (SNL) was actually funny. They had some pretty good comedians and their sketches could be hilarious. Now that is ancient history. This past Saturday was the 50 year anniversary show, and other than bringing actors out of old age homes, the show allowed Tom Hanks to shred his career. As he played your typical Trump voter, looking like a schlub and wearing a MAGA hat, he went on not to shake hands with a black co-star. The sketch was disgusting but it opens a window into the mind of the defeated left.

One successful skit from decades past had Eddie Murphy put on makeup and transform himself into “Mr. White”. Now able to penetrate the world of white people, he sees that they live differently. Free drinks on the bus, free newspapers, and even bank loans without collateral or forms—Murphy finally found out that there was a world unto whites alone. The skit was very funny, but one could extend the concept to today. If you listen to Democrats, their description of Donald Trump and his supporters is actually a description of themselves. And while one might be able to scour the country and find a lone Trump supporter who will not shake a black man’s hand, you are far more likely to find his people helping those in need, regardless of color. Remember that it was the Biden FEMA people who were told to avoid destroyed North Carolina neighborhoods that had Trump for President signs. And this “I am what I accuse you of being” behavior extends to virtually every aspect of public life in the US:

*The Republicans are bigots. That was the gist of the failed Hanks gag. Yet, it was under Joe Biden when whites were told not to apply for certain governmental jobs, or if they did apply, they were immediately rejected. It was under Biden when Jews felt antisemitic hatred never before recorded in the United States. It was under Biden when women in college were warned not to complain about guys competing against them, changing in the same locker room, and taking their medals and trophies.

*The Republicans will end free speech. The Democrats under both Obama and Biden did their best to stifle speech that they did not like. Remember that it was Barack Obama’s Department of Justice that looked at the emails of a White House reporter to find a leak. It was Joe Biden who proposed a department to define misinformation in order to limit Americans’ speech options. It was Joe Biden’s FBI that worked with social media companies to control how people could express themselves online and communicate with others. It was lefty Twitter that quashed the true story of the Hunter Biden laptop. It was lefty Google that made the Fauci-disapproved Great Barrington Declaration on how to deal with Covid vanish from search results.

*The Republicans will become dictators. The work of Elon Musk and his DOGE posse, fully supported and encouraged by Donald Trump, is revealing why the Democrats absolutely needed to win the 2024 election, to the point of kicking Joe Biden to the curb and selecting a candidate who had won zero primary races. Washington does not exist to serve the people; rather, it exists to keep the right people well-funded and in power. Money was thrown around like garbage, and a lot of people from both parties figured out how to get a piece of the pie. Congress dropped its role of oversight in order to join in the feast. NGOs, think tanks, overseas organizations all learned how to get a piece of the federal budget and make sure that they personally would be well-compensated for the effort. No doubt that when DOGE does a full audit of the Pentagon and Social Security Administration, we will all have to collectively pick our jaws up from the sidewalk as we learn of the scale of waste, fraud, double-dealing, and graft moving from the billions of dollars to the trillions of dollars.

*The Republicans will start wars. The truth of the matter is that Donald Trump started no new war during his first term as president. Sure, he gifted General Soleimani with some free Hellfire missiles and wiped out a cadre of Wagner mercenaries in Syria. But Donald Trump started no new war, and one may note that Russia’s Ukrainian and Georgian land grabs occurred under Obama and Biden. Trump has moved to finish Israel’s conflicts with all of its adversaries, and as these words are hitting the screen, US and Russian officials meeting in Saudi Arabia are finally speaking face-to-face about how to end the war in Ukraine.

*Trump will weaponize the DOJ on his enemies. These people say such things with straight faces. The FBI and DOJ served as a personal Stasi for Joe Biden and the Democrats. Trump himself was charged in multiple cases at the state and federal level, while Joe Biden’s document taking and influence peddling were ignored. Trump supporters and various groups like Christians opposed to abortion found FBI agents with long rifles in their morning cereal. There is nothing to suggest that Pam Bondi or Kash Patel will go after Trump’s enemies for political ends. They may investigate wrongdoing that involves Democrats but the focus will be law enforcement and not law usurpation.

People back in 2016 suggested that the Obama FBI went after General Flynn because he was the only official in the new Trump White House who could figure out the shenanigans going on at DOJ. As more information becomes available about the huge sums of money sent all over the world, we will begin to learn how Democrats, many Republicans and bureaucrats used the federal government for their personal interests and benefit, without any thought of the American people. Their hatred of Donald Trump and his supporters was partly ideological, but it also was rooted in the knowledge that they were the only ones who could stop the flow of money to the right people and organizations.

A story was told that Abe Lincoln got angry at his wife when she bought a new bed for the White House: “It’s the people’s money and we need to use it responsibly.” Donald Trump understands that thinking, and he and his new administration are working to corral a massive federal government into once again effectively serving the American people and not a large cadre of people with the right connections.
