What is this now? How many operations will be uncovered showing that the FBI had its meddling hands in our elections? The latest document dump isn’t as pernicious or creepy as the Twitter Files, in which the FBI, our leading domestic intelligence and law enforcement agency, was working with Silicon Valley to influence the broader audience and censor opinions deemed disagreeable. 

They knew the Russian collusion hoax was a crock from the start, and then-FBI Director Comey knew the Steele Dossier was a Clinton campaign-funded opposition research project cobbled together from shoddy intelligence to launch Crossfire Hurricane and to spy on Trump’s 2016 campaign. What else could there be? Oh, the Hunter Biden laptop was real, but their taking it was a Russian disinformation scheme, and they later compiled all the “derogatory” information disclosed by the bureau’s confidential human sources on the matter. It also smeared those pushing the sordid details revealed on the laptop’s hard drive as Kremlin stooges. Oh, and yes, the FBI knew the laptop was authentic. Michael Shellenberger at Public has more (via Public):

…the White House has released documents from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) showing that the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force-Russia (FITF-R) in December 2019, one month after an FBI field office took possession of the hard drives from Hunter Biden’s laptop, “unofficially formed a group of analysts who utilized internal systems to gather any all derogatory information previously reported by confidential human sources (CHSs) on Joseph Biden, corruption, and other Ukraine related-topics (known as, the ‘Ukraine Narrative,’) including Burisma, Hunter Biden, Mykolva Zlochevskay, Ukraine Interference in 2016 US Presidential election to red flag the reporting as Russian disinformation.” (Bolded text in the original document.)

The documents do not mention the Hunter Biden laptop, and flagging CHS reporting that originates with a Russian intelligence officer is not facially illegitimate counterintelligence. One senior intelligence official said they didn’t know if it was the same FBI group that was behind the Hunter Biden laptop official, and other senior officials did not respond.

But the documents make clear that the team not only assumed the claims were false but also that they were Russian disinformation, even though the FBI had, since December 2019, been sitting on the Hunter Biden laptop, which showed that much of the “Ukraine Narrative” involving influence peddling by the Bidens was, in fact, true. Even if the FBI agents on the Foreign Influence Task Force didn’t know about the Hunter Biden laptop, the entire premise of operation Round River was a plainly partisan abuse of powers.

And there are reasons to believe that this operation was behind a so-called “defensive briefing” that the FBI gave to the two Republican senators who were investigating Hunter Biden and influence peddling, which the FBI then leaked to the media. “The FITF-R team also provided defensive briefings to any Congressional member who obtained reporting related to any aspect of the ‘Ukraine narrative,’” says the ODNI report.

The White House also released a spreadsheet of the people the FBI viewed as a “conduit” of Russian disinformation. The sixth and seventh names listed are Ron Johnson and Chuck Grasley. Jim Jordan, the House Chairman who has also investigated, is number eight on the list.

In April 2025, Herridge, Alex Gutentag, and I reported that Johnson and Grassley had sent a letter to the FBI saying that Benavides and a colleague on August 6, 2020 provided “an unnecessary briefing on behalf of the FBI and Intelligence Community on matters purportedly related to the senators’ investigation into Hunter Biden.”

Our story focused on an FBI official admitting to House investigators that an FBI employee had inadvertently confirmed the authenticity of Hunter Biden’s laptop to Twitter on a conference call the morning of October 14, 2020.

The story also described text messages suggesting the FBI agents knew the laptop was genuine and not Russian disinformation. “I mean, as a special agent, as a criminal investigator, and what I know and what I do,” said an FBI agent, “I don’t know how they could have come to that conclusion regarding this laptop.’

The deep state, the political class, the dishonest media, and the Democrats are all part of this orgy of lying and mayhem that’s truly wrecked institutions. Perhaps that’s their intent. As the Left’s base has become more unhinged, we’ve known for years that the Left’s goal is to render our Constitution unable to constitute. They want to destroy it, which they’re now openly saying. You do that by imploding institutions. 

But once again, the FBI acted like the personal police force for the Democrats, political operatives no better than the blowhards you see on CNN.
